Accounting Manager

Summary / Primary Role:

The Accounting Manager will have the primary responsibility to analyze financial information and prepare reporting to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities with the organization.

Essential Functions:

Prepare monthly financial statements including; income statements, balance sheet and cash flow, consolidated financial statement package.

Daily post and reconcile accounts receivable.

Close, reconcile, purge and calculate DSO on a monthly and annual basis.

Prepare and send direct sales updates to PNC weekly.

Prepare and send convent certificates to PNC quarterly.

Prepare and send borrowing base certificated (BBC) to PNC monthly.

Review cleared checks daily for unauthorized checks. Review void requests.

Download checks from bank and clear from BPCS bi-weekly for the bank reconciliation.

Prepare various State and Federal tax filings.

Prepare various reports for the US Census Bureau, as requested.

Record cash sheet information to be used for monthly cash journal entry.

Prepare and send trucking revenue report to insurance company monthly.

Prepare account analysis for ****93+ general ledger accounts monthly.

Monitor and maintain ****93 prepaid insurance accounts monthly.

Prepare property tax returns for several states as well as paying the appropriate tax when due.

Close, reconcile, purge and calculate DSO on a monthly and annual basis.

Annual budgeting and setting up new budget files in BPCS.

Recalculate monthly interest on outstanding debt and compare to PNC interest statements to ensure we are being billing the correct interest.

Prepare and make bank deposits (approximately twice weekly).

Audit information; CIRT requests, confirmation letters and nay other information requested by auditors.

Prepare for new year; setting up new files and various other items that require information segregated by year.

Participate in meetings and on committees as needed or requested.

Attend seminars, training sessions and obtain certifications as needed or requested.

ALL OTHER DUTIES AND PROJECTS AS ASSIGNED.

Job Specifications: **

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, with a minimum of 5 or more years in accounting position is required.
  • Masters Degree and/or CPA Certification is preferred.
  • A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.
  • Working knowledge of Great Plains preferred.
  • Knowledge of IFTA, IRP, Heavy Use Tax (****93), ****93 filings is highly preferred.
  • Experience in transportation environment preferred.
  • Microsoft Office literate with ability to type a minimum of ****93 words per minute.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in Microsoft Excel (i.e. filters, pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.) is required.

Expected Hours of Work:

Associate must work a minimum of thirty (****93) hours each week to maintain full-time status for benefits purposes, however the expectations of the position will require an average of fifty (****93) hours. This position requires open availability including evenings and weekends to meet the demands of accounting month ends and inventory management.

Travel is estimated at 1 or 2 overnight stays per year.
