Administrative Analyst I

NCIRE- The Veterans Health Research Institute – San Francisco, CA

Position Definition:

The pre/post award analyst will perform analysis of the financial aspects of grants management for Principal Investigators for the Center for Imaging of Neurodegenerative Diseases (CIND) located at the VAMC. Key aspects of the position include interfacing with the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging Business Office; UCSF Office of Sponsored Research; NCIRE Contracts and Grants; Controllers Office (Extramural Funds); VAMC Research and Development Office.

Essential Functions:

  • Prepare research grants applications for new research proposals, renewals, clinical and fellowship awards
  • Provide post award management for a variety of research grants and clinical trials
  • Work with Principal Investigators to provide budget analyses and develop projections
  • Monitor funds, budget variances and expense reporting and projections
  • Establish and maintain new system for inter-relational longitudinal budget analysis and projections
  • Act as primary liaison in monitoring and resolving of financial and payroll-related issues
  • Set up and billing of clinical trials
  • Work on side projects related to research grants
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in accounting or finance and/or minimum of one year progressive experience in administrative analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Proven analytical skills
  • Demonstrated financial management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain new budgetary tools in financial management of grant funds
  • Ability to assess and respond to audit risks
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, tasks and priorities to achieve desired goals
  • Computer literacy with full working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, and the Internet
  • Professional attitude with ability to maintain confidentiality on sensitive projects
  • Strong interpersonal, written/oral communication, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Able to prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met
  • Ability to work well under pressure and in an extremely fast paced environment
  • Ability to successfully interact with a wide variety of individuals

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of UC Accounting practices and compliance with regulations issues by individual funding agencies; prior UCSF grant management (pre or post) experience; knowledge of grants.gov and Cayuse
