SCHEDULE: schedule is 7:30 4:30, Monday Friday for a total of 40 hours including a full day of training each week.
SUMMARY: Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs (GEAR UP) is a six-year grant funded by the U.S. Department of Education to significantly increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.GEAR UP Highlines vision is that all students are academically, socially, and financially prepared to enter and complete the postsecondary program or institution of their choice. The Restorative Justice Coach will be assigned to serve at 1 of 4 high schools in Highline Public Schools to provide critical coordination of services including comprehensive mentoring, outreach, and supportive services to increase student and family engagement during the school year and throughout summer and school breaks.
Restorative Justice Coaches (4 positions) who partner with students who have been suspended or expelled and ensure that they stay on a path to success by mentoring, tutoring, supporting restorative practices & helping to rebuild peer to peer and student to teacher relationships
CONTEXT AND MISSION: Highline Public Schools serves approximately 19,000 students in the communities of Burien, Des Moines, Normandy Park, SeaTac, Boulevard Park and White Center Heights in Washington State. Starting in the fall of 2012, the Highline community came together to develop a four-year strategic plan outlining the communitys bold goals and big dreams for its children. The plans promise is that every student in Highline Public Schools is known by name, strength, and need, and graduates prepared for the future they choose.
The collective commitment embodied in the plan is grounded in the communitys deep belief that Highline students are capable of reaching the plans ambitious goals and is driven by students aspirations for their future.

Our Restorative Justice Coacheswill partner with students who have been suspended, expelled, or placed in In School Suspension (ISS) and provide case management including mentoring, tutoring, coaching sessions, and restorative practices to help the student transition back into their classes and stay on track academically. The Restorative Justice Coaches will manage a caseload and serve students one-on-one, in small groups, and classroom wide to ensure all students have the supports the need to be successful in school.
