Java Developer

Job Summary/Description           

Essential Skills Needed:

• Strong Knowledge of: 

• JAVA/J2EE development
• APIs
• XML/JSON
• Web services
• Microservices
• Database – Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.
• REST/SOAP

• Experience building Java/J2EE Applications
• Weblogic
• IBM Sterling OMS v 10.x or more (Preferred)

Education/Experience 

•  Bachelor's degree/equivalent in computer science, MIS or related discipline
•  5+ years’ experience in systems development and skills/platform/environment as requested by FedEx management 
• Highly "prefer" some hands-on knowledge of Sterling Order Management System (OMS) and experience of delivering 1-2 projects as an OMS developer with the IBM Sterling Order Management System or similar.

Skills and Competencies:

•  Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills 
•  Ability to work independently and manage one’s time
•  Knowledge of design techniques and principles involved in production of drawings and models

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities: 

•  Modify existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
•  Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
•  Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning to ensure specifications are met
•  Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
• Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan computer specifications and layouts, and peripheral equipment modifications
