The GIS Analysts role is to provide mapping and analytical support to the Supply Appraisal and business development teams, in their effort to grow and optimize the unique nationwide assets of Enterprise Products. These assets include gathering, processing, and transportation of gas, oil and natural gas liquids. This position requires strategic thinking and technical competence in best practices for utilizing GIS in data and spatial analysis. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Working closely with the members of Supply Appraisal, prepare custom maps to support commercial business analysis such as pipeline proximity to new drilling, oil and gas leasing and competitor pipelines and facilities.
  • Prepare regular drilling and permitting activity maps.
  • Manage updates to base map data.
  • Responsible for researching and maintaining database of pipelines and gas plants.
  • Perform data mining activities using various internal and third party databases including Drilling Info, USGS, NMOCD, TXRRC, DOE, AAPG, TXBEG, PBGS
  • Liaise with other EPD GIS departments for the purpose of managing and sharing data.
  • Help improve the processes related to the development of GIS applications supporting commercial efforts.
  • Qualifications
    The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree in Geography or related field or GISP or equivalent certification is required.
  • Minimum of 2 - 5 years relevant GIS experience at an oil and gas midstream company preferred is required.
  • In-depth knowledge of GIS suite of products from ESRI such as ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro is required.
  • Strong conceptual and practical understanding of data integration and spatial analysis using GIS software is required.
  • Ability to manage time, tasks and resources effectively in a deadline-oriented, customer service environment and be able to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Superior communication skills are required for this position, in order to establish and maintain effective relationships with internal customers.
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas midstream industry.
  • Midstream industry experience with an understanding of the ESRI/PODS data model is a plus.
  • Expert analysis skills using advanced GIS software, such as advanced spatial and data analysis tools, raster image transformation, thematic mapping and georeferencing.
  • Knowledge of SQL for accessing and manipulating databases.
  • Knowledge of general maps, U.S.G.S. quadrangle maps, aerial photography and imagery.
  • Knowledge of third party data suppliers such as Drilling Info and PennWell (MAPsearch).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, to manipulate data for joins and build definition queries.
