We are seeking intelligent, a hard-working, and dynamic individual to serve as Bioinformatics Analyst II within the Dana-Farber Bioinformatics and Data Science Group (Informatics and Analytics Department). The group works with some of the most prominent research and clinical DFCI programs, from basic research to translational research, to clinical diagnostics and operations. The group encompasses expertise in bioinformatics, data science and machine learning, and seeks to develop a highly interdisciplinary environment supporting our research, clinical and operational staff advance the overall mission of DFCI which is to provide expert, compassionate care to children and adults with cancer while advancing the understanding, diagnosis, treatment, cure, and prevention of cancer and related diseases. As we widen our support of several crucial centers and programs at DFCI we seek experts with the ability to lead projects and potentially in the future lead other people who can provide bioinformatics support for some of our key initiatives and centers relying on genomic data.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have proven experience in leading and executing independent large complex projects.

  • Meeting and consulting scientists and independent faculty members who require bioinformatics support in designing and executing biomedical projects
  • Collecting, analyzing, interpreting and integrating complex biological data
  • Delivering results for projects and generating relevant reports
  • Working as part of the broader team to identify longer-term solutions that will improve quality, speed and efficacy of our current projects and programs evaluating and benchmarking new software tools and pipeline development
  • Excellent communication and effective problem-solving skills, track record in serving a variety of diverse customers and projects
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage people if needed, within an environment with evolving priorities
  • Substantial experience in one or more areas of cancer research, such as lymphoma or other types of hematologic cancers, patient-derived cancer models
  • Deep bioinformatics skills, at the interface between bioinformatics programming and understanding of biological and clinical problems
  • Qualifications
  • PhD preferred with evidence of impact in bioinformatics applied to real life problems, ideally within a biomedical research or clinical environment
  • 2+ years of experience in translational and/or clinical research
  • 2+ years of post PhD experience strongly preferred
  • Deep bioinformatics skills, at the interface between bioinformatics programming and understanding of biological and clinical problems
  • Experience in analysis of the next generation sequencing data, e.g. DNA-Seq, RNA-Seq, ChIP-Seq, etc.
  • Excellent communication and effective problem-solving skills, track record in serving a variety of diverse customers and projects
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize, and manage people if needed, within an environment with evolving priorities
  • Prior supervisory experience a plus
