Education, Education, Education: Why Learning And Work Opportunities Are Now Global

Education, Education, Education: Why Learning And Work Opportunities Are Now Global

When it comes to education, it represents many things to many people. Some years ago, when a politician was asked about his top three priorities should he get into power, he said he had they were simply, “education, education, and education,” hence the opening of my article title. What he was attempting to do was stress just how critical he viewed educational opportunities to be, and how the nature of our formal education often underpins the rest of our lives.

Of course, education is an ever-developing landscape around the world. Far from the days of learning being the exclusive domain of the physical school room and only locally accessible, it has become a global business with worldwide impacts.

Naturally, much learning is still done locally, face to face, and in classrooms, lecture theatres, and seminar locations, but that is just the start of the story. Educational subjects and disciplines have developed too.

From the traditional history, philosophy, economics, English literature, and all the science degrees, industries such as IT and hospitality are now well represented. From hotel and leisure management to IT development, business studies to corporate strategies to technology courses about game testing tools such as 5.5 Appium and 5.4 Selenium – education has evolved alongside the global marketplace, and continues to do so. As our corporate, social, and economic world changes, so does the role, nature, delivery, and accessibility of education.

In addition to all this, and as the marketplace for employment becomes ever more global, with opportunities to use educational achievements, certifications, and accreditations on the international scale, everything from education to job searching, and resume composition to work visa applications has become a more complicated process.

Whichever way you decide to approach the idea of global education, and whichever perspective you may be viewing this business from, it is a fascinating world, replete with opportunity, and driven by an ever-evolving relationship between work and education, employment and job hunting, and so much more. In that respect, it is worth taking a deeper dive into the world of global education, visas, employment opportunities, the arena of international study and students, and a range of the attendant issues that are intrinsically linked to all this.

International Student Numbers Driving Work Visas And Postgraduate Employment

When I was at university, and that was many years ago now, the number of international students was in the vast minority. To clarify, this was in the time before student fees in the UK, and even before the wide market in places like the US, Canada, the UK, and more were the beacons of educational quality that now attract so many from overseas to study at their great universities and colleges. Whether it is Cornell or Columbia, Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, or MIT, to name a few, these educational establishments are taking more overseas students than ever. With this, of course, comes job opportunities post-graduate, and with more work visas available for the brightest and best, this is superb for the global employee and employer markets.

As the number of overseas postgraduates expands, looking for career tips, resume writing advice, extended H1B visa options, and placements in locations such as the USA, global work opportunities are becoming more lucrative as well as more numerous. In the fields of Information Technology, Data Science, and all tech-related sectors and subjects, this overseas job market growth is particularly prevalent. Postgraduate employment for IT-related graduates is highly sought after as the sector becomes more valuable in the modern world. Whether it is IT jobs on the USA West Coast or data scientist work at MIT, these roles are there, but so is the competition to land them.

For those who may not know, getting a student visa is one thing, but having that extended or modified into a visa that allows you not just to work, but to start out on the road to residency, is not always easy. In the US and the UK, two countries in which I have studied, lived, and worked, the process can be arduous, if ultimately rewarding. As the number of international students rises in these two nations, as well as others, the process could become slower and more complex when it comes to securing the right to postgraduate study and employment. That said, with a wealth of online advice, educational establishments helping international students with visa, and employment assistance, and the legal support that is also available to some, the thriving international student numbers, which are fiscally important to universities and colleges with higher fees, will likely continue apace.

Worldwide Workforce Using Remote Education To Gain Higher Learning Skills

Learning online has never been easier than it is in the current climate. By this, I do not mean search engine surfing or finding out travel times; I mean formal learning, official certification, accredited qualifications, if you prefer. This can be anything from an industry-sponsored accreditation to a full university degree, a diploma designed to allow entry into a particular profession, or a certificate that allows you to work in different countries. Having such a wealth, depth, and indeed quality of online education so widely accessible and globally available really has changed the educational ecosystem, while augmenting the work and learning opportunity spectrum at the same time.

Opportunities for students are now more numerous both in terms of what they can learn and achieve online, as well as their chances of employment once they have completed whatever course of study they embarked on. As you will see when you look at sites dedicated to helping students find work after graduation, as well as those offering online learning assistance, the global marketplace is now their oyster, as the old saying suggests. With the latest online learning statistics showing a huge number of studies now being completed online, it is a natural progression that graduates are looking online to secure work too. Both of these numbers are likely to rise, as online learning becomes both more mainstream and, in many ways, a more affordable and accessible option.

Part of entering the workforce after graduation is, of course, deciding where you want to be. For overseas students, some return home, but some want to stay in the country where they completed their education. Whichever of those options it may be, making sure your resume or C.V. is bespoke to both your preferred industry and location is now a necessity. As well as the availability of remote education, the online world is awash with help for graduates in this area too. With all manner of learning skills and attainments now available online, the marketplace for job applications is also exponentially more crowded. Look at any job application online, especially for graduates, and you will likely see hundreds of submissions, making a great resume all the more critical for those looking to stand head and shoulders above this crowded field of talented applicants.

Global Job Hunting: Why Resume Supremacy Matters

Among the many other things we have discussed, we have touched upon the competitive nature of the post-graduate, post-qualified global marketplace, and employment landscape. Put simply, with so many people around the world boasting the same diploma, degree, certification, or accreditation, being qualified is not necessarily going to be good enough to secure your preferred professional role. One tip that I constantly offered in this situation is, as you enter what is now a global, and increasingly febrile job market, ensure that you have the best possible resume.

It may seem as though, if you went to a prestigious academic institution and achieved a high level of appropriate qualifications, your overall resume standard, format, and aesthetic might be secondary, but that isn’t the case. And yes, to those who may doubt this, it does matter, and yes, it can make a difference, and yes, this is even more important with the deluge of resume submissions facilitated by online application processes. It is important, and this may seem axiomatic, but carefully collating your resume to reflect not just your personal information, but what the employer wants to see in a resume, is key. One size does not fit all when it comes to job applications, and in such a competitive market, making yours bespoke to the job you are actually applying for, and industry-relevant too, is more important than some seem to think.

With everything we have discussed, a quick recap seems the best form of conclusion. Naturally, I won’t go back over everything, but clearly some of the most important issues include, but are not limited to, international student number increases, global graduate job market landscapes, the critical nature of submitting the best resume, and the way in which education, as a whole, is now offering global learning and worldwide work opportunities more so than ever before. As I said at the top of this article, education, education, education – it is well worth stressing, as are the learning and work opportunities that are the direct consequences for millions around the globe.
