Business Application Analyst I

Northwest Federal Credit Union – Herndon, VA

The Business Application Analyst is a full-time position and operates as a member of the Business Application Administration Team within the IT Infrastructure group. The positions role is to provide technical expertise in maximizing value from the organizations Enterprise Business Applications. This is accomplished by serving as a technical resource to Business Application Owners during service strategy and design activities, performing application administration duties related to service transition, operation, and continual service improvement, and lastly by maintaining strong relationships with software vendors to understand current and future capabilities of their products.
Enterprise business applications include but are not limited to Consumer Loan Origination Systems, Core Financial Systems, Customer Relationship Manager Software, eBanking Platforms, and Electronic Document/Knowledge Management Solutions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must include the following and you may include any additional:
  • Deliver outstanding service that delivers on our Service Promises.
  • Meet or exceed the service goals for the position.
  • Knowledge of the Credit Unions products and services.
  • Complete BVS classes as assigned.
  • Maintain department policy and procedure documentation accordingly.
  • Remains cognizant of and adheres to NWFCU policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
Planning
  • Collaborate with Business Owners to ensure business applications are providing the desired member experience.
  • Review vendor notifications regarding changes for impact to internal or member facing services, evaluates impact to business applications and adherence to policies, and provides feedback to Business Unit(s) impacted.
Deployment
  • Deploy new business applications and enhancements to existing applications in accordance with established project and change management procedures.
Operational Management
  • Act as the primary liaison between end users and business application owners to meet their needs.
  • Coordinate and conduct user acceptance testing activities.
  • Assist in the implementing solutions to address new processes and work with IT and other Application Management resources to obtain or provide data or reporting.
  • Assist in creating system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programming and development teams.
  • Support system design models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to system programmer and development teams.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure business applications meet availability, capacity, continuity and security specifications.
  • Performs testing for DR/BCP and network system or operating system changes.
  • Administer and maintain end user accounts, permissions, and access rights.
  • Provides software development support including respond to operational issues, define testing requirements, perform initial validation testing of functionality, ensure data integrity, coordinate end user acceptance testing, coordinates vendor releases and manages major system upgrades.
  • Conduct application end user support for all systems assigned and researches system functionality to troubleshoot issues and addresses questions on system workflows. Works with application vendor support staff, network vendor engineers and internal IT staff on application issues.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidate must have software application experience for mission critical software that is used by multiple business units.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent, previous financial and service experience preferred. Excellent verbal, organizational, and problem-solving skills needed.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two year college diploma or university degree in information management (four year degree preferred), computer science, business administration or equivalent combination of education, technical training or work experience in the area of application systems support or testing, business analysis or software implementation preferred.
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of financial institution experience.
  • Experience in one of the following:
o Software configuration, testing and support
o Business Analyst
SKILLS
PC skills include ability to use Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word, as well is Internet Explorer.
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven software troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Excellent task management, organization, and team collaboration skills.
