ResponsibilitiesSummaryThe GEOINT Futures Office (GFO) Systems Engineering Department supports the systems acquisition and design integration efforts for a fast-paced National Security program. The GFO/SE department is looking for a Science & Performance Modeling Lead to provide product quality assessment and insight, support to initialization, characterization, demonstration planning and execution, and evaluation of automated image processing algorithms and software. This department functions as part of a highly-integrated acquisition team composed of government, Aerospace, and SETA personnel.Key Functions
  • Identify, scope, and execute design or risk-reduction trade studies in support of NRO systems acquisition and enterprise integration
  • Direct predictive modeling and simulation of advanced remote sensing technologies in support of complex electro-optical satellite acquisition & associated ground processing development
  • Formulate, coordinate, and communicate technical solutions to complex space-system and enterprise level development & performance issues across federal labs, contractor, and the NRO/NGA enterprise
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the development of detailed ground and space-system enterprise test plans
  • Perform independent verification, validation and test / assessment of sensor and image processing algorithms, software, and data products
  • Coordinate with a diverse, cross-organization team to plan and execute mission characterization, demonstration, and transition activities and milestones
  • Provide on-site technical support and effectively employ Aerospace Engineering Matrix resources
  • Participate as a critical member of a joint government-FFRDC-SETA team
  • QualificationsRequired
  • A bachelor s degree in Engineering, Remote Sensing, Physics or related technical field
  • A minimum of 12 years of progressively more responsible experience
  • Solid understanding of space systems and electro-optical remote sensing systems and/or associated data processing
  • Ability to be proactive, work with autonomy, have excellent oral & written communication and inter-personal skills and be able to employ corporate resources effectively to address customer study needs
  • Ability to communicate with a broad range of customers, technologists, program managers, system engineers, and senior government leadership
  • Current TS/SCI, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Preferred
  • An advanced degree in Engineering, Remote Sensing, Physics or related technical field
  • Experience with national systems verification, test, characterization, demonstration, and operational transitions processes and procedures
  • Formal education or previous experience in systems engineering practices and procedures with an emphasis in system / architecture performance modeling, remote sensing, and/or software development
  • Experience with the development, evaluation, and/or operations of automated image processing algorithms and software
  • Experience in NRO/GEOINT and/or NGA enterprise systems and exposure to Activity-based Intelligence concepts
  • Experience with national space systems from an end-to-end perspective, broad technology exposure across space architectures, ability to perform trades across multiple systems and technology options
