Communications Coordinator

POSITION DESCRIPTION: PART TIME COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

BHI is looking for an energetic and motivated individual with relevant marketing experience and an interest in growing with our organization to serve as our Communications Coordinator. The Communications Coordinator will perform a variety of duties that support the organizations mission, including formulating and executing a strategic marketing plan for the organization that encompasses BHIs goals for the next three years.

This is a part time position (Up to 25 hours per week) with possibility for full time employment after one year. Some remote working will be considered for the right candidate. The Communications Coordinator will work closely with the CEO and Managing Director, Economic Development and will be supervised by the Senior Manager, Operations & Human Resources.

JOB DUTIES

  • Edit, write, develop and post content for BHI newsletter, website, social media channels, marketing publications and other outlets,
  • Create and implement yearly social media plan. Ensure goals are achieved in a timely manner
  • Monitor web news sources and social media for news stories and features relating to BHI and its partners in the BioHealth Capital Region
  • Regularly update BHI website as needed
  • Manage production of marketing materials and manage a variety of vendors for campaigns and projects
  • Develop and manage CRM database
  • Occasionally interface with portfolio companies on individual marketing needs
  • Support BioTalk Podcast production
  • Assist Managing Director and other BHI staff in various administrative duties related to BHI grant proposals and programs
  • Coordinate BHI event logistics in collaboration with various BHI staff including Managing Director, CEO, and Senior Manager, Operations & Human Resources

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Communications, Marketing or 2-3 years equivalent work experience in related field
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in using Adobe Creative Suite specifically Adobe Illustrator required
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Microsoft Publisher
  • Direct experience with HTML
  • Familiarity with content management systems a plus (Joomla, Wordpress)
  • Flexibility in work schedule as some projects may require additional hours or adjustment in usual schedule
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to write quickly and accurately
  • Strong project management skills including managing competing projects, coordinating with various staff members and partners, and managing vendors
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative with limited supervision and high motivation
  • Ability to pivot and adapt to changes in project direction and deadlines
