Communications Subject Matter Expert (Sr. Communications Specialist)

MERP Systems, Inc. – Washington, DC

MERP Systems, a CMMI Level 3 appraised IT services organization is seeking a Strategic Communication and Outreach Subject Matter Expert (Senior Communications Specialist) to provide support to a Government Agency in the DC metro area.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Communicating and collaborating with a federal team and partner agencies.
  • Promoting federal products and programs through various communications channels.
  • Engaging with the open source landscape inside and outside the government. This includes having attended and/or having organized a hackathon.
  • Planning and facilitating meetings (Meetups, summits, speaking engagements, conferences, code-a-thons)
  • Live tweeting at events
  • Promoting events above via social media channels
  • Creating graphics to be used in promotional activities
  • Designing promotional items (lanyards, pens, stickers)
  • Creating and editing videos and posting on social media channels
  • Drafting and posting articles on Medium or other blog, after following proper approval process
  • Attending conferences to live tweet, create videos and generate ideas for Medium articles/blogs
  • Education Requirement:

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor of Art/Science in business related discipline
  • Experience Requirements:

  • Three (3) years of similar experience supporting a federal agency
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Good understanding of open source technology
  • Proficient in the use of social media and advanced techniques
  • Strong oral and written English skills
  • Job Type: Full-time

  • Communications: 3 years (Required)
