Consulting Manager- Business Development

Postlethwaite & Netterville – Houston, TX

Responsibilities:
The Business Development Manager will drive new and incremental revenue by prospecting, acquiring and developing new and incremental business with clients and prospects. The position will maintain an extensive knowledge of the firms service lines and offerings as well as current market trends, conditions and penetration of services and solutions. The position involves overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Houston office by carrying out duties such as providing adequate support and leadership to staff and ensuring the management of office.Essential:

  • Leads business development activities including client relationship development, program-specific positioning activities, teaming arrangements, proposal preparation, presentations, and contract negotiations consistent with established business development processes.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of firms services.
  • Develops strategies to achieve and support organizational goals.
  • Builds and maintains a growth pipeline, interacting with new and current clients, gathering referrals, and forming strong relationships that results in business growth.
  • Serves as one of the firms prime contacts with clients and prospects.
  • Actively generates prospect referrals from referral network.
  • Translates and communicates business needs in clear technical terms to the technical resources and the technical details in simple business terms to the leadership and non-technical people.
  • Builds and maintains trusted relationships with diverse group of clients, team members, managers, and subject matter experts.
  • Role models firm representation in professional and community events.
  • Provides leadership and facilitates collaboration amongst team members and clients.
  • Leads team in building and maintaining positive work environment for the office.
  • Serves as a leader in the practice internally and externally, and effectively takes advantage of leadership opportunities.
  • Mentors and develops team members, including aiding in areas of team growth and recruitment as needed.
  • Plans, prepares, directs and completes assigned tasks in an efficient manner and within allotted timeframes.
  • Performs supervisory responsibilities for staff and intern positions and provides prompt feedback to Directors/Associates regarding staff performance. Assists in the preparation of proposals and continues to develop network for future practice development opportunities.
  • Maintains the required CPE for firm and licensing requirements.
  • Other Duties:
  • Provides courteous and prompt service to all internal and external parties. Prioritizes and addresses requests and assignments in a professional and cooperative manner.
  • Identifies opportunities and recommends methods to improve service, work processes and financial performance (e.g., procedure optimization).
  • Assists in the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Actively supports teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Performs other services as assigned.

  • Skills, Education, and/or Experience Required:

    PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS


    Education:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business field is required.
  • Masters degree is preferred.

  • Certification:

  • One or more of the relevant certifications or credentials is required (CPA, CIA, CISA, CFE, CISSP, PMP)

  • Work Experience:

  • 10+ years of direct experience prospecting and developing business within a professional services firm.
  • 7+ years demonstrating broad technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Accounting, Tax, Assurance, or Technology.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of complex sales techniques and track record of creating, negotiating and closing large-scale deals.
  • Proven ability to develop long term strategic relationships with C-Level decision-makers.
  • 3+ years demonstrated supervisory experience.

  • Must demonstrate critical thinking and project management skill capabilities.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in business and technical environments and with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, innovative, and continuously changing environment.
  • Ability to perform effectively, efficiently and with quality under tight deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Must possess a high degree of professionalism including the ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Must be computer literate with the capability of performing at an intermediate or advanced level with respect to the Microsoft Office Suite of products, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Other Considerations:

  • Must either reside in or near the Houston, TX area or be willing to relocate to the area for this opportunity.
  • May be required to work overtime and weekends.
  • May be required to travel and work from different company and client locations.
