Control Systems Engineer - Instrumentation

Position Summary Senior engineer; independently applies advanced engineering techniques and analysis within the discipline. Develops designs that require innovation and ingenuity. Work performed with minimal supervision; has considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignments.Primary Job Responsibilities:

Support P&ID development; help maintain the P&IDs through the course of each project phase

Support development of the Instrument Index and I/O List; help maintain the Instrument Index and I/O List through the course of each project phase Support development of material / labor TIC cost estimates Support development of engineering / design effort hour estimates Support incorporation of control systems content into mechanical equipment vendor packages Coordinate with process engineers to obtain process data for use in specifying tagged field instruments Coordinate with Global Integrated [project] Delivery (GID) office(s) aka workshare office(s) to ensure work packages are being prepared in compliance with Lead office / Client requirements Provide technical direction for selection of items to be specified or purchased, ensure compliance with client requirements and standards, check specifications and requisition packages prepared by others Prepare engineering calculations, specifications and requisition packages for inquiry and purchase Prepare technical bid evaluations and make recommendations for purchase Interface with suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications Review vendor data to assure specifications and project requirements are met
Qualifications Training and Experience:

BS or MS in engineering or related discipline; especially Chemical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

PE license or equivalent preferred Familiarity with Truck/Rail Loading Unloading Facilities 7+ years of experience on medium to large sized capital projects, from project inception to completion of design phase 5+ years of experience in oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, and/or polymer plant design required Current knowledge of EPC work processes, cost control, scheduling and administrative practices as well as familiarity with the various project phases and the scope/deliverables required for each; business acumen for lump sum and cost plus projects. Sound knowledge of the application, specification and installation of tagged field instruments Thorough understanding of P&ID symbology and presentation techniques Experience in inspection and testing of instrumentation items Experience in instrument installation requirements Experience in engineering and/or construction work process Excellent oral and written communication skills Advanced MS Office skills (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) Database Instrumentation tools experience preferred (SPI/Intools, ABE (Aspen Basic Engineering), Aveva, Comos, others).
