Nature of Work

The purpose of the Admissions Representative is to serve as a liaison between Chadron State Colleges external market and the services that are available through CSC. The external market includes prospective students of all ages and academic backgrounds. Also included are those who influence a students decision to attend CSC such as high school guidance counselors, community college transfer advisors, alumni, family, friends, and community members. The Representative will be expected to stay aware of regional education issues, news events related to recruiting, and collaborative opportunities for enrollment.

Examples of Work Performed

Essential Duties:
1. Coordinate prospective student campus visits
a. Schedule and coordinate appointments and itineraries with faculty, professional staff, and coaches for prospective student visitors. If needed, arrange over-night residence hall housing for campus visitors
b. Counsel and advise students, parents, and high school personnel on various admissions requirements on a daily basis
c. Work closely with faculty to ensure their availability for campus visits
d. Assist with special recruiting events on and off campus
e. Maintain records of number of visitors and prepare monthly and year-end reports of visitation activities
f. Develop and coordinate procedures as well as FAQs and other similar recruiting content to be used in admissions tracking, reporting and communications
2. Supervise and coordinate activities of student Ambassadors
a. Interview, hire and train Ambassadors
b. Supervise (daily) Admissions Ambassadors
c. Schedule training and professional development sessions for Ambassadors
3. Manage assigned recruiting territory (northern Nebraska Panhandle) from an office on main campus in Chadron
a. Participate in all functions of the Admissions Office
b. Identify and recruit prospective students
c. Plan and conduct visits to high schools, community colleges and other promotional events
d. Compile a profile of each HS/CC in assigned territory: size of senior class, date of career fairs, Honors nights, graduation, Homecoming/Prom (so that promotional items can be sent), subscribe to regional high school and/or community college newspapers if possible and record the times and days of the week schools prefer college reps to visit
e. Manage and organize inquiries received
f. Excellent knowledge of software preferably including experience with student information systems
g. Review EMASPro queries for status of pre-applicants and applicants
h. Maintain a Facebook page, compose and send personal e-mail and written correspondence
i. Plan and conduct extensive follow-up with prospective students
j. Travel to high schools, community colleges and other promotional events
4. Assist in developing prospective student publications and promotional displays
a. Seek out opportunities for CSC promotional displays in assigned territory
b. Contribute ideas and provide input regarding the Admissions publications
5. Provide enrollment assistance to new and current students
a. Provide general information about other campus offices
Secondary Duties:
1. File monthly time sheets as required by CSC
2. File planned vacations and sick leave days using Firefly
3. File planned work travel using the appropriate forms
4. File complete, signed reimbursements for travel and all other expenses (with original receipts and following CSC guidelines) on a minimum of a monthly basis
5. Deliver CSC publications to community resource centers such as libraries and Chambers of Commerce, Employment Service offices, Adult Basic Education offices and Educational Service Units (ESUs), etc.
6. Contact alumni in assigned territory regarding their willingness to help recruit new students through the Full Circle program (name referrals, posting/distributing CSC information, etc.)
7. Provide feedback from environmental scanning on all relevant enrollment management topics
8. Other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree or related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

Proven customer service experience
Strong oral and written communication skills
Public Speaking experience
Computer and database skills
Event Planning
Leadership experience

Physical Demands

The physical requirements for this position may include, but are not necessarily limited to, the ability to use a computer, calculator, telephone, keyboard, and/or various types of office equipment. Must be able to effectively communicate in verbal and written formats and satisfactorily perform the functions of this position.
