Coordinator, Security (STAPLES Center)

Job Summary:

The Security Coordinator is responsible for security department recruitment, training, team member communication, documentation, administrative duties and special projects assigned.

The Security Coordinator will also provide assistance and support to the Sr Vice President, Guest Services & Security; Director, Security in addition to administrative support to the Security Departments management team. While most working hours are normal business hours, this position may occasionally require the employee to work a varied work schedule, including some STAPLES Center events, hiring fairs, and training sessions which may be held during evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.

Essential Duties:

30% Security Department Recruitment / Training

  • Manage the hiring process for Security Officers; (job postings/descriptions, advertisements, job fairs, background checks, and drug tests) work with human resources and building management to set up and prepare for interviews.
  • Manage New Team Member Orientation and Training; prepare training Supervisors, create training agenda according to department requirements, create all necessary documentation. Notify and coordinate orientation and training with the building departments and uniform room.
  • Manage the hiring process for part-time and full-time Security Supervisors; work with HR to set up, confirm, prepare and track interview process.
  • Deliver Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Training program to team members and maintain valid training certification.
  • Maintain records of CPR/AED/FA training for team members and supervisors. Coordinate re-certification ever two years for all appropriate staff.
  • Assist with coordinating and presentation of ENCORE|LA training.
  • Responsible for maintaining records of team member trainings.
  • Coordinate Campus Security meetings and Security Supervisors Quarterly meetings.

30% Department Administrative Support / Project Coordination

  • Complete tasks and special projects as assigned by VP/Senior Director of Security.
  • Coordinate requests, approvals, and delivery of all STAPLES Center credentials and fobs.
  • Coordinate/track all department budget expenditures, purchase orders, invoices, etc.
  • Maintain up-to-date department manuals, standard operating procedures, electronic forms, and paperwork.
  • Occasional support to Security Manager on Duty during large-scale events (i.e. Grammy Awards).
  • Maintain records of team member California security licensing.
  • Assist with Emergency Procedure exercise, table tops and any other necessary training.
  • Manage ISS event entries as events are confirmed and compile event statistical information.

10% Team Member Recognition

  • Maintain team member incentive programs additional recognition programs.
  • Communicate ENCORE|LA Spotlight Stories between Security department and Guest Services.
  • Order and maintain team member incentive items.

10% Uniform Liaison

  • Regularly meet with uniform Supervisors to discuss current needs and issues regarding security uniforms.
  • Communicate any uniform concerns between the Security department and the uniform department.

10% Human Resources Liaison

  • Work with Human Resources regarding any security team member issues that may require follow up or disciplinary action.
  • Work with Human Resources on recruiting and training programs.

10% Assistant to the Vice President/Director

  • Handles paperwork, filing, incoming phone calls, basic e-mail responses, and manage appointment/meeting calendar for the Vice President.
  • Track and reconcile security budget expenditures.
  • Create agendas and coordinate department meetings.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma (or equivalent) required, college degree preferred.
  • A minimum education level of: High School Diploma or its equivalency (BA/BS Degree Preferred)
  • A minimum of 2 years of related work experience
  • Capable of working in a fast paced environment.
  • Able to stand/walk for long periods of time and lift push/pull 30 lbs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work under pressure, recognize problems and find solutions
  • Proficient in policy and procedure writing and training.
  • Ability to work occasional irregular hours for an extended period of time as dictated by events and schedule. This will include weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle a variety of day-to-day tasks.
  • Ability to clearly communicate in English, written and verbal with team members, management and various external agencies.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Trainer.
  • CPR / AED / First Aid training.
