USO-Metro is looking for a reliable, organized, and energetic military and Fortune 500 enthusiast to join our Corporate Development team this summer. The intern will work approximately 30 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. The internship will begin in June and is expected to last 8 to 10 weeks. The internship is unpaid, but we are happy to complete any paperwork or processes to facilitate students earning course credit.

The Corporate Development Intern will assist the Corporate Development team in cultivating, maintaining, and enhancing USO-Metros partnerships with Corporate Donors in the Greater Metropolitan Washington, D.C. and Baltimore areas. The intern will develop print and digital marketing to aid the Corporate Development team in fundraising efforts, to include: one-page sales tools, stewardship report templates, email templates, etc. A strong background in graphic design is a bonus. The intern will work with the Marketing and Communications team to ensure the Corporate Development web page and sponsorships are up to date. In addition, the intern will assist the Corporate Development team in processing and organizing partnership documentation to include invoices, letters of agreement, logo approvals, and proper acknowledgement after a sponsored activity or event.

The Corporate Development Intern will attend events and programs alongside the Corporate Development team to ensure a positive experience for all corporate donor representatives. The events and programs which the intern will work closely with appropriate USO-Metro departments (Field Operations, Centers Operations, Sports, Special Events) to collaborate on include but are not limited to: Pack 4 Troops, Movies on the Lawn, YUM Lunch, Giant National Capital BBQ Battle, and/or other events to be determined. The intern will assist in social media capture on all USO-Metro social platforms for stewardship of corporate donors.

This position is roughly 90% in office with 10% field time.

USO-Metro is a nonprofit 501c(3) organization chartered by Congress and dedicated to serving those who serve and their families in Washington, D.C., Maryland and Northern Virginia. It is through the generous financial support of individuals and organizations in the local community that USO-Metro is able to fulfill its mission. With the help of thousands of devoted volunteers, USO-Metro provides programs and services for active duty-troops and their families at area military hospitals, five USO centers, four USO airport lounges and a Mobile USO. Signature programs and services include holiday programs like Turkeys for Troops and Project USO Elf, career transition programs, and caring for our wounded, ill and injured troops and their caregivers.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university degree program pursuing a Bachelor s or Masters degree in marketing, communication, hospitality, business, or a related field.
  • Proficient through coursework or professional experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally and to present information verbally and in writing in a polished manner.
  • Must be able to drive a USO-Metro pool vehicle (SUV or van) to run program errands and pick up program supplies.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
  • Requires a drivers license and safe driving record. Must maintain a safe driving record throughout the internship.
