Responsibilities:
  • P lans, coordinates and supervises the activities of an Electrical Engineering section
  • D irectly supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of engineers and support employees and is accountable for the quality of work performed
  • P rovides input or makes recommendations to higher management with respect to performance appraisal of and leave for employees supervised and may be called upon to provide input or make recommendations concerning selection, training, and discipline
  • Ensure staff is conversant with procedures, safety, expected objectives, and targets
  • Assists in conflict resolution by encouraging communication, making recommendations, and fostering positive team dynamics
  • Represents section in meetings dealing with problem resolution and the planning and coordination of work; may be delegated to represent the branch on occasion
  • Represents the Company as delegated in the development of engineering standards and/or technical forums in his/her area of responsibility
  • Participates in operational planning process
  • Supervises design and modification, assembly, installation, testing, operation and maintenance of test rigs, special tools, and assembly of components
  • Develops new approaches to problems in the engineering specialty
  • Develops, plans, schedules, conducts, or co-ordinates detailed phases of the engineering work in part of a major project or in a total project of considerable scope
  • As senior engineer provides technical guidance and leadership to engineers at lower grade levels and/or other technical employees
  • Plans, coordinates and supervises an engineering section involved in a technical issue or several smaller engineering assignments with completed features requiring application of intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices in related fields
  • Reviews technical documents prepared by employees supervised
  • Prepares inputs and monitors budgets, estimates, schedules, and work packages
  • Assists staff in trouble shooting technical difficulties by providing specialized knowledge in area of expertise
  • Directly supervises staff; coordinates and reviews the work of engineers and support employees and is accountable for the quality of work performed
  • Provides input or makes recommendations to management with respect to performance appraisal of and leave for employees supervised and may be called upon to provide input or make recommendations concerning selection training, and discipline
  • Ensure staff is conversant with procedures, safety, expected objectives, and targets

What you will bring Technical and Industry Experience:
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering Discipline;
  • Minimum of 10-15 years practical working experience in a relevant field of engineering
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of procedures, processes, equipment and techniques, both in theory and practice
  • Ability to compile/analyze data and prepare graphs/charts using supplied software
  • Working knowledge of CSA, ASME and other relevant codes and standards
  • Fully competent in the conventional aspects of Electrical Engineering field or discipline
  • Demonstrated leadership and the ability to make a substantial contribution to the execution of department/branch initiatives
  • Must possess sound judgement and diplomacy in managing projects with stakeholders and divergent views
  • Demonstrated project management skills
  • Familiarity with pertinent CSA, IEEE or related Electrical Engineering codes & standards
  • Ability to communicate technical and non-technical information within company
  • Technical knowledge to write procedures and review documents on a technical level
  • Strong verbal/written communication skills and effectiveness in interpersonal relationships
  • Experience in major multi-discipline project teams and interacting with disciplines and external parties (e.g. Customers, suppliers, etc.);
  • Basic computing skills and functionality with standard Microsoft Office programs (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education Qualifications, Accreditation, Training: Required:
  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering

Preferred:
  • Registered Professional Engineer Certification
