Job Description:

  • Looking for a DevOps reliability engineer who is passionate about automation and process improvement to support system and application components associated with these applications including build and deployment DoD activities, production support and monitoring, security/infrastructure remediation, and production issue oversight/solutioning.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the development, and delivery of tools, automation, and continuous improvement of scalable monitoring and alerting tools/methodologies.
  • Leverage familiarity with Production & Platform Supports best practices to raise the bar on processes, procedures, and solutions for delighting clients, both internal and external.
  • Deliver on assigned work for new to market applications, ensuring that crucial non-functional requirements are completed in line with STSs standards for Definition of Done. 
  • Identify, prioritize, and complete assignments on opportunities to shift left operationally and deliver value to developers and end-users.
  • Identify, prioritize, and complete assignments on automation opportunities and maintain automation in platforms such as Bamboo, SALT supporting Blue/Green, and Canary Deployments.
  • Participate in root cause analysis meetings and ensure proper assignment and completion of resolution activities.
  • Leverage existing tools and help develop new tools to improve mean time to restoration
  • Collaborate with business partners, support, and development teams to identify root cause, prioritize resolution, and identify backlog items for quality improvements
  • Complete assigned work to improve existing monitoring and alerting systems with a focus on proactive issue detection and automated recovery

Required Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in a Computer Operations, Engineering, or Application Support position.  Previous experience in a fast-paced and/or agile environment.  Capable of working in collaborative efforts with multiple Business, Development, and Support teams in a large enterprise.  This position requires a high level of customer service skills to establish and enhance positive relationships with coworkers and business partners. Must demonstrate a willingness to learn new technologies.  Candidate must demonstrate experience or familiarity in the following areas:
  • Knowledge and experience with Windows, Linux, Cloud (PCF/AWS), and Mainframe operating systems; server administration skills,.  Mainframe JCL and Cobol experience a plus. 
  • Familiarity with:  SQL Server, Mongo, IIS, RabbitMQ, Jira, Bamboo
  • General knowledge of systems infrastructure, Active Directory, storage, and networking.
  • Basic knowledge in PowerShell, Python, Perl, Java, Scripting (strongly desired).
  • Familiarity with C#, .NET framework, ASP.NET development, jQuery, Angular
  • Basic understanding of Agile Scrum/Kanban development practices
  • Conceptual understanding of Splunk Enterprise; AppD; ITRS, Thousand Eyes, etc. for monitoring and analyzing IT systems, batch processing, and application environments (preferred).  
  • Exposure to, or experience building operational and business metric dashboards and reports. (Tableau, Remedy, Sharepoint integrations, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
  • Ability to thrive in a flexible and fast-paced environment across multiple time zones and locations
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline. (preferred)
