Director of Post Secondary Services

Cotting School – Lexington, MA

The Director of Post-Secondary Pathways reports to the Chief Academic Officer. S/he will provide support and supervision for teachers in the 18-22 program Capstone, and develop a strategy and innovative programming to address growing challenges and opportunities for transitional services. S/he will strongly identify with Cotting Schools mission and its commitment to providing outstanding educational and support services to children with a broad spectrum of learning disabilities, communication impairments, physical challenges and complex medical conditions. The Director of Post-Secondary Pathways will serve as part of the senior administrative team and will work collaboratively with senior management to provide clear and consistent leadership to all Cotting constituents.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide continuous supervision, feedback and support for all Capstone teaching and support staff. This includes holding regular meetings (individual and group) and observing all teachers in classrooms and other teaching settings. This also involves identifying appropriate professional development and training for Capstone teachers and other staff members.Collaborate with outside agencies providing adult services and programming. Support students and families in identifying appropriate program options and needed supports.
Monitor and evaluate outcomes of current students and recent alumni in these programs to ensure that Cottings offerings support positive transition outcomes. Use outcome data to drive changes to transition based program offerings and curriculum planning.Identify programming needs of Capstone students and, working closely with the CAO and Curriculum Specialist, develop appropriate, creative curriculum and programs. In particular, develop self-advocacy and self-determination curricula that support social emotional development and post-secondary success.Collaborate with the Director of Transition Services and Guidance to develop, augment, oversee and coordinate transitional services to meet the changing needs of Cotting students and families.Teach transition-related classes and electives. Conduct transition assessments as needed and in conjunction with other staff.Support transition-related events such as the Transition Fair, Employer Breakfast, Wares Fairs, and Alumni events/panels.Direct the summer school program.
Work with a cross-functional group to develop and implement age-appropriate programming and activities to meet student needs yet maintain unique features of summer program.Participate on the Instructional Leadership Team and other committees as appropriate.Participate in some IEP teams/meetings as assigned. Assist in transition meetings and completing transition planning forms.Interface with HOPEhouse as appropriate and necessary.Support the work of the 766 Office to maintain the educational program in compliance with the State Department of Education regulations to provide for the continued approval of the program under Chapter 766 and other regulations as they may apply.Other projects and responsibilities as deemed necessary by the Chief Academic Officer and/or the Executive Director or other members of the senior management team.
