The Director of the Student Funding Services takes a lead role in administering the delivery of student financial aid and workforce education services. The Director is responsible for creating and maintaining a student-centered, supportive atmosphere among the staff with sensitivity and responsiveness to all students, and in administering federal, state and institutional financial aid programs in compliance with applicable rules and reporting requirements. This position is responsible for maintaining effective coordination and teamwork with other departments on campus and serves on the Student Services Leadership Team. Additional responsibilities include packaging financial aid awards, troubleshooting individual and system problems, developing an efficient electronic-based system which provides customer-oriented service, counseling students in a helpful, supportive manner, and in using Professional Judgment (decision making authority) when appropriate.
This is a full-time exempt, at will position. This position may require you to work some evenings and weekends.

Essential Tasks

Reporting to directly to the Associate Dean of Student Funding this position will:

  • Plan, implement and evaluate the policies and procedures for delivery of services which (a) are in compliance with federal and state regulations, and (b) provides equitable access by student applicants;
  • Determine student eligibility for financial aid, package awards, coordinate disbursement of funds and monitor academic progress of recipients;
  • Oversee and coordinate aspect of programs which include Veterans Scholarships, WorkFirst, Workforce Grants, WorkStudy, Direct Loans, and federal, state, and institutional grants;
  • Manage all federal, state and institutional recordkeeping and reporting;
  • Manage the automated financial aid system;
  • Prepare and monitor office budgets;
  • Provide effective leadership, training, direct supervision and evaluation of office staff and conduct regularly staff meetings;
  • Conduct workshops and other informational activities on campus, at local high schools, and in the community;
  • Serve as the Financial Aid Administrator for the Passport to College program working closely with the designated Passport to College advisor;
  • Serve on the Student Services Leadership Team and act as a liaison between the Funding Services Office and other department on campus;
  • Represent the College at conferences, within the community and in various organizations.

  • Knowledge & understanding of state and federal FA programs and rules.


  • Bachelor s degree; AND
  • Three years of administrative experience in Financial Aid; AND
  • Two years of management/supervisory experience; AND
  • Experience with automated financial aid management systems.
  • Experience with community college program;.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct data analysis, abstract computerized statistical information and manipulate date for customized reporting formats;
  • Bilingual Fluency;
  • PeopleSoft Experience or working knowledge of PeopleSoft.
