Flight Dispatchers have joint responsibility with the pilot in command for the safety and operational control of flights. The Dispatcher authorizes, regulates, and controls flights according to government and company regulations to expedite and ensure safety of flight. They assure that appropriate personnel are informed of significant changes in the flight status, such as specific aircraft to be used on flights, aircraft changes, aircraft substitutions, delays, unscheduled landings, diversions or cancellations.
In this role, the Dispatcher will work in a fast-paced environment. Effective organization and planning skills are necessary in this position. Must be able to work independently as well as under direct supervision. Must speak clearly over the telephone and radio transmission and be understood by crew members and others.
Minimum age: 23
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Possess a valid FAA Dispatch license
Understand basic concepts of weather, navigation, and aeronautics
Must be able to work rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays and rotating days off
Possess the legal right to work in the United States
Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language
Ability to understand and read a 24-hour clock
Working knowledge of FAA 121 Regulations
Additional Position Details
Candidates must fulfill a fingerprint based criminal background check to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas (SIDA), if applicable.
Candidates must be able to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges, in addition to clearing other airport related requirements, if applicable.
This position may be subject to the Department of Transportation (DOT). Federal law requires Envoy to determine a candidates history with the DOT drug and/or alcohol violation(s) or refusal(s) to test before hiring him/her into a safety-sensitive position.
