Editorial Assistant

Overview

The Editorial Assistant provides editorial and administrative support to the Scientific and Editorial departments. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail oriented, and willing to learn. This is an entry-level position and an exciting opportunity for someone looking to start their career at a growing company with a reputation for excellence. This position is based on site at our Irving, TX, location.



Responsibilities

Key Job Responsibilities:


  • Reviews documents for content, grammar, and spelling as well as for AMA style, client style, and consistency within the piece and among related pieces within a campaign

  • Proofreads layouts; ensures the quality of format and visual quality of pieces

  • Completes data entry

  • Researches information on websites and compiles reports

  • Files electronic documents, correspondence, reports, and other materials. Maintains files in an orderly manner

  • Assists with maintaining Editorial calendar

  • Establishes solid working relationships with all internal teams

  • Accurately tracks time spent on each job and enters in time-tracking system on a daily basis



  • Job Requirements

    Required:

  • Bachelors degree in English, journalism, or related field, OR

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 1-3 years of copy editing, proofreading, data entry, or executive assistant/administrative assistant experience

  • Preferred:

  • 1-3 years of copy editing, proofreading, data entry, or executive assistant/administrative assistant experience

  • Skills

    Required:

  • Proficient in basic English grammar and spelling rules

  • Knowledge of all proofing and editing symbols

  • Quick and accurate typing skills

  • High level of computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite (ie, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Experience with Adobe programs is a plus

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and prioritize tasks

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with internal team members
