Financial Aid Coordinator

Midwestern Career College is looking for a Financial Aid Coordinator who can work at our Downtown Chicago Campus. If you want to make a difference in someone s life and work for a College whose mission is to empower its students through career education, then MCC is the right place for you!

This position reports to the Director of Financial Aid

The Financial Aid Coordinator works provides financial aid services and public information regarding financial aid programs to student, parent, and the general public. The Financial Aid Coordinator also presents loan advisement to students, and understands state and accrediting body regulations as they apply to Title IV and other financial aid programs.

  • Assists and advises students and parents with questions regarding the financial aid application process
  • Works with the Director of Financial Aid on processing files and requesting funds
  • Ensures that all students have completed MPN, entrance and exit counseling if needed
  • Monitors and evaluates Satisfactory Academic Progress of students
  • Maintains financial aid files
  • Assists students with withdrawals and leave of absence
  • Tracks student progress on financial aid packages
  • Creates payment plans for students with shortfalls and passes it along to the business office
  • Participates in annual training and professional organizations to keep abreast of new information and program changes to be implemented
  • Provides financial aid counseling to students and parents regarding all aspect of the financial aid or veterans process. Make necessary referrals to other student service officers
  • Conducts verification of student and parent application data in compliance with federal criteria
  • Work and collaborate with other departments as needed
  • Other Duties and Special Projects as assigned

A high School Diploma is required, but an Associates degree is preferred.

Superior language and interpersonal communication skills is a must.

At least one-year experience in related field is also required.

  • Positive attitude focused on student satisfaction
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows and related software (Work, Excel, and Outlook). Excellent analytical and management skills. Excellent organizational skills are essential

This position might also include infrequent visits to campus extensions in Naperville and Blue Island.
