About Charleston Hope:

Charleston Hope is a non-profit organization that enhances school culture and climate in high-poverty, Title 1 schools by building on the strengths of students, teachers, and leaders. We work directly with teachers and administration in our schools to create programs and initiatives that support their strengths and build off of their needs.

About the internship position:

This not a paid position. It is an internship. College-credit available.

The fundraising/event intern will assist the executive director in the day to day activities regarding fundraising and events of the organization. This will include handling donor and sponsor relations, fundraising activities, and planning of events.


  • Take a lead role in planning and executing our largest fundraiser/event of the year: Adopt a Classroom
  • Assist with marketing and logistics for the events
  • Serve as ongoing point of contact for event participants before and after the event day
  • Recruit and manage volunteers for the event
  • Develop and manage sponsorships for events
  • Create and establish community partners for events and fundraisers; communicate with all sponsors, partners, and volunteers


  • Self-motivate, team player with the ability to meet deadlines, remain flexible, and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills, with keen attention to details, as well as excellent problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter).
  • Have self-discipline and time management skills necessary to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
  • Possess a valid drivers license.

Work Schedule/Time Commitment:

Flexible schedule with the ability to work weekends as needed, approximately 12-15 hours/week, with exact days and times to be determined according to your schedule. Some job duties may be done from home, but weekly meetings with supervisor will be required.

Start Date: As soon as possible, no later than August 1, 2019- December 23, 2019.
Hours: 12-15 hours/week

Compensation: This is an Unpaid/Volunteer internship, there is potential for academic credit.
