Provides assistance to Principal Investigators in the preparation and award management of complex research sponsored projects for the College of Nursing and Health Innovation,(CONHI).
Provides assistance to Principal Investigators (PIs) in pre-award activities regarding proposal development and submissions to federal/state and private agencies under the guidance of the CONHI Director of Sponsored Programs Administration. Provides technical support to PIs in the review and submission of all routine/complex research grant and contract proposals by providing information and guidance. Reviews completed applications and contracts for accuracy, completeness and compliance with the requirements of the University and the prospective funding agency. Manages technical automated search processes via electronic media for external funding opportunities and assists faculty in searching databases. Oversees electronic proposal submissions in concert with the Office of Grants and Contract Services. Provides assistance in preparing workshops and training sessions on funding sources and award management for the College of Nursing and Health Innovation (CONHI). Maintains frequent contact with PIs and serves as a liaison with internal/external customers. Prepares forecasts of upcoming federal research initiatives. Provides assistance in preparing reports/summaries/analyses for the Director of Sponsored Programs on research funding. Obtains requested reports or other information from the PIs.
Provides assistance to PIs in post-award activities for sponsored projects including: monthly award financial review; monitoring principle investigators effort certification and commitment to research projects; processing grant appointments in conjunction with the Business Office; providing payroll analysis; processing payment requests for consultants/participants on sponsored projects; award set up; monitoring of expenditures monthly to ensure compliance with sponsor programmatic areas and institutional policies; allowable and unallowable costs; review and processing budget transfers, prior approval requests and project closeouts in conjunction with the Office of Grant and Contract Services. Works with the Office of Grant Accounting to insure that all research-related subcontracts are current and financial reports are submitted on behalf of the PI and in a timely manner; monitor subcontracts expenditures, request extensions or terminations as needed.
Bachelors degree in business, public administration, social sciences, higher education or a related field. Five (5) years of experience in the preparation and processing of research grant and/or contract proposals and in a higher education environment, including three (3) years of experience as a Grants and Contracts Specialist II or the equivalent experience.
Masters degree. Knowledgeable of federal/state programmatic and fiscal rules and regulations related to sponsored research projects.
