International Export Documentation Specialist Trainee

Company Overview:

Wheaton Grain buys, sells, ships agriculture commodities from the USA and international destinations around the world, mostly to the Asian Pacific Rim. All exported products are shipped by ocean vessel in intermodal containers. Wheaton is based in Chippewa Falls, WI where we have a grain export facility and several grain elevators. We also have an office in Edina for Export Trade Execution.

Position Overview:

Wheaton Grain has a new position with its new Container Export Division based in Edina. Wheaton has grown tremendously over the last few years and has now opened an Export Division to manage its exports of grains and animal feed products that are shipped overseas to Taiwan, Korea, Japan, China, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

The position we are looking for is an International/Export Execution Logistics Specialist Trainee. Our staff has many years of experience to help a candidate learn and transition into the role. The position includes an array of responsibilities and gives candidate a wide range of exposure to different parts of the business. Some of which include:

-Dealing with Intermodal Ocean Carriers to make booking reservations, securing vessel space, confirming shipments on board and sending BL instructions and revisions to the shipping line.

-The candidate will learn and need skills in negotiating and dispute resolution to deal with the shipping lines for a variety of different things such as correcting invoices, and making Bill of Lading corrections.

-Candidates will need to learn about following the International Customer Documentation Instructions for their custom clearance requirements and the USDA

-Accounting and reconciling shipments to ensure freight and commodity invoices match

-Providing customers overseas with accurate, timely, and friendly service regarding their shipments

-The candidate would be working with the trading and logistic groups on a daily basis to find solutions for business challenges.

- We place importance on working hard, being accountable, always trying to solve and prevent problems, having a team mindset to having team oriented dialogue to improve our processes.

-Mistakes are very costly and time consuming so a detailed oriented person is important.

-There is an immense amount of data and people to deal with (especially right away as everything is fresh) so personal organizational skills are critical.

-Candidate enjoys fast past environment with deadlines.

-Its not uncommon to get poor service from the Ocean Carriers so a resilient attitude is very beneficial.

-Communicate with oversea customers, sending shipping documents, helping ensure they are acceptable for the buyers import process and ensure that the import process goes smoothly.

-There can be a number of different things going on simultaneously so the skill of foresight, and forward planning is very valuable.

Experience in the logistics industry working with ocean carriers is a plus. However, if you have a interest in export documentation and logistics this position our staff's experience will provide a good place to gain experience.
