Job Description:

  • Formulates/defines system scope and objectives.
  • Devises or modifies procedures to solve complex problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.
  • Prepares detailed specifications for programs.
  • Assists in the design, development, testing, implementation, and documentation of new software and enhancements of existing applications.
  • Works with project managers, developers, and end users to ensure application designs meet business requirements.
  • Formulates/defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications or modifies/maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents those programs.
  • Provides overall operating system, such as sophisticated file maintenance routines, large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages.
  • Assists all phases of software systems programming applications.
  • Evaluates new and existing software products.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • The Application Analyst role supports analysis, design, construction, deployment, maintenance, and production of systems.
  • This role requires a broad set of skills consistent with the nature of the agile development process including the ability to support analysis, research issues, design and conduct tests, and develop solutions.
  • The Applications Systems Analyst Labor Category includes preparing detailed specifications; designing, developing, testing, implementing, and documenting new software and enhancements; and designing, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting programs.
  • Supports implementation of IT solutions on projects similar in scope and complexity to the project.
  • Develops SDLC and Work Definition artifacts as directed.
  • Performs activities in compliance with client performance and security standards.
  • Develops and conducts unit tests that demonstrate functionality for complex business scenarios.
  • Collects application performance information to support design and decision making.
  • Uses current client technologies in support of assignments such as Java, J2EE, EJB, JMS, SQL, HTML, JSP, Struts, Jasper, JUnit, ClearCase, Subversion, Maven, and Hudson.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field (additional experience may substitute).
  • Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) (certifiable in 60 days).
