The Applications Systems Engineer 4 will be in integral part of the overall CORE team within the Consumer Lending Technology group of TOG. Acts as a lead in providing application design guidance and consultation, utilizing a thorough understanding of applicable technology, tools and existing designs. Analyzes highly complex business requirements, designs and writes technical specifications to design or redesign complex computer platforms and applications. Provides coding direction to less experienced staff or develops highly complex original code. Acts as an expert technical resource for modeling, simulation and analysis efforts. Verifies program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs. Oversees overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production. Develops new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides. Leads projects, allocates and manages resources and manages the work of less experienced staff. Assures quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area and oversees creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan.

This position is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology professional wanting to not only contribute excellent code but also develop and extend an existing web-based application, business integration services and general coding standards, techniques, and procedures in a cutting edge development environment that is focused on the next generation development platform within Wells Fargo. The successful candidate in this position will be responsible for leading by example, the day to day application of proven patterns and practices, and influencing change within the program to produce measurable results. This position is ideal for technologists that desire a challenge to make a difference in a mission-critical technology group by creating a new standard in development activities.

The primary duties of this role will focus on leveraging industry (Java and J2EE) best practices to design, code, test, implement and support a multi-tier J2EE real estate lending solution in support of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage. In addition to the daily hands on development activities, this individual will play a key role in providing production support. This support will entail initial issue triage and troubleshooting, root cause determination, and the development of short and long term technical and/or process solutions.

Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Analyzing highly complex business requirements designs and writes technical specifications to design or redesign complex computer platforms and applications.
  • Verifying program logic by overseeing the preparation of test data, testing and debugging of programs.
  • Participating in overall systems testing and the migration of platforms and applications to production.
  • Developing new documentation, departmental technical procedures and user guides.
  • Assuring quality, security and compliance requirements are met for supported area, as well as, overseeing creation of or updates to and testing of the business continuation plan.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of application development and implementation experience
  • 5+ years of Java experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in science or technology
  • Ability to provide leadership to a technology team
  • Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
  • Ability to work effectively, as well as independently, in a team environment
  • Knowledge and understanding of Cloud computing, PaaS design principles and micro services and containers
  • 3+ years of design pattern experience
  • 3+ years of MQ Series Messaging experience
  • 4+ years of XML (Extensible Markup Language) experience
  • 3+ years of Spring experience
  • 3+ years of Oracle experience
  • Hibernate experience
  • Malware reverse engineering experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of mortgage origination: applications, processing, and closing
  • Exposure to the Wells Fargo s CORE origination system
  • Experience with Agile Scrum (Daily Standup, Sprint Planning and Sprint Retrospective meetings) and Kanban
  • Knowledge and understanding of test driven application development

Other Desired Qualifications
  • Hands on experience in design, development and successful deployment of a large scale Java/J2EE project from end-to-end
  • Extensive knowledge and application of Java best practices and J2EE design patterns
  • J2EE/Server side programming experience
  • Extensive experience in technologies such as JSPs, JSF, Struts/Spring, Axis, Web Services, JMS, XML.
  • 3+ years of Cloud based Web Services / Micro Services Development experience
  • 3+ years of experience Tomcat experience
  • Pivotal Cloud Foundry Experience
  • Experience with various database query patterns and database table design, preferably in Oracle
  • Experience using Quartz job/schedulers
  • Experience using caching mechanism using java based technologies
  • Mockito testing
  • Junit and/or TestNG experience
