JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinates all Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) laboratory courses and activities for Bachelor s, Master s and Doctoral level students in Speech Language Pathology. Maintains and calibrates equipment of all CSD labs. Performs a variety of technical tasks related to the operation of all CSD labs to facilitate CSD teaching and research objectives. Suitable for recent graduates and individuals interested in pursuing a doctorate degree.

REPORTS TO: Chair of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) department.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Organize daily lab operations such as scheduling of equipment usage and ordering lab equipment and supplies
  • Maintenance of lab instrumentation including troubleshooting and calibration of equipment used in behavioral, acoustic and EEG studies
  • Ensure compliance to IRB protocols
  • Maintain a lab calendar to manage usage of space across students and faculty
  • Maintain records of data collection and analysis
  • Participate in CSD lab and department meetings
  • Perform statistical analyses of data
  • Provide information sessions and trainings to SLP and Neuroscience students about lab instrumentation, administrative protocols, and data analysis
  • Contribute to research dissemination in national and international conferences
  • Additional duties assigned by lab directors
  • REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of the scientific method and ability to think critically about well-controlled experiments
  • Detail-oriented and able to strictly adhere to protocols
  • Able to problem solve and maintain quality control practices
  • Experience in training students preferred
  • Experience with E-prime and programming languages preferred
  • Willingness to learn other specialized software and hardware for speech analysis and EEG data analysis
  • Ability to work in an inter-professional team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor s degree in the sciences, psychology, or Communication Sciences and Disorders with documented experience working in scientific clinically-based labs.
