The Lease and Rental Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities for the Lease and Rental Department in the Houston-area. This individual will interact with the Director of Lease and Rental and the General Manager(s), along with other various management team members, while providing support for all functions relating to Lease and Rental.

By providing sales and operational leadership, this position will ensure that service operations stay at the forefront of the industry, while focusing on continuous improvement. This individual is expected to adhere to the Vanguard Mission and Values.


  • Drive growth in sales, gross margin, and net income
  • Achieve annual financial budgets and unit count budgets
  • Drive Volvo and/or Mack Market Share in each market
  • Provides Leadership and supervision for Lease and Rental employees
  • Oversee Sales and Prospecting for New and Existing Customers
  • Ensure weekly sales and marketing activities and goals are being met for all locations
  • Oversee and maintain Customer Retention
  • Use a Prospect System for the purpose of storing prospect data, competition information, marketing results, and follow-up needs (CRM, CV360, and Excel).
  • Develop Competition library to include customers, vehicles and term-out dates
  • Coordinate activities between New Truck Sales and Leasing departments
  • Work with the department heads and General Manager to maximize overall market share growth
  • Coordinate with Maintenance Department on the scheduling of vehicle service
  • Ensure Revenue, Cost and Profit Goals are met consistently
  • Forecast results weekly
  • Consistently meets business plans and budget goals
  • Ensure all FSL, Rental, and Contract Maintenance customers are invoiced timely and accurately.
  • Recruit and retain quality employees

    Marginal duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.


    Will manage a high-functioning team of 5+ salespeople and support-staff


  • Team-Player with exceptional leadership skills
  • Required experience in managing a team of 3-6 salespeople
  • Two years of management experience required
  • A minimum of two years of sales experience required
  • Heavy-duty truck experience preferred

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required
  • *5 years of experience in the Transportation Industry or 5 years of Sales Management experience in any industry, will be accepted in lieu of a Bachelors Degree*

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Requires excellent verbal and written skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be able to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization

    Solid basic math skills needed to price, quote, and manage parts division


    Basic reasoning ability and good conflict management skills


    Valid Drivers License Required

    CDL Preferred


    Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds frequently and climb in and out of Class 8 Trucks with ease. Use of hands and fingers to handle or feel, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Talk, hear, see, push, pull, and reach. Extended walking and standing may be required.


    There is exposure to fumes, loud noise, and mechanical hazards.
