Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY: As part of the maintenance team, leverage Clayton Early Learning s physical assets by maintaining and improving the historic campus buildings and grounds. Collaborate with the Director of Maintenance for on-call support, emergency mitigation, and preventive maintenance. Provide the highest level of internal service and support and find the best solutions in resolving day to day problems and issues. Hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 6:30am-3:00pm with the some flexibility to switch out a day.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Electrical: Install, troubleshoot, maintain and repairs to routine electrical work (120VAC). To include changing and/or repairing lamps and ballasts, fixtures, switches, outlets and wiring etc.
  • HVAC: Install, troubleshoot, maintain and perform routine HVAC work such as system checks, change belts and filters, pumps, valves, pipes vents, etc.
  • Plumbing: Perform plumbing repairs including plumbing stoppages, replace faucets and pipes, repair drains and install water heaters.
  • Carpentry: Perform minor and major carpentry repairs on furniture and building interior and exterior.
  • Doors: Install, maintain and perform repairs to doors and locks.
  • Glass/Windows: Install, maintain and repair the windows on the Clayton Campus.
  • Educare Denver School: Maintenance and repairs to the buildings interior and exterior structure, equipment, furnishings, fixtures, and grounds on the Clayton campus including the Educare Schools classrooms, administrative and playground areas in keeping with the highest levels of quality for child licensing and local, state and federal standards.
  • Environmental Conditions: Removes snow with snow blowers and hand snow shovels, supports lawn care, ensures building integrity in inclement weather conditions.
  • General: opens buildings in the morning and performs daily condition and safety inspections of facilities.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Minimum education:

High School Diploma required; Associate degree or technical training preferred.

Work experience in positions similar or related to this job:

  • 8-10 years previous experience on preventive maintenance, and experience in multi-building facility maintenance repair including general facilities maintenance.

Certificates or licenses:

  • Valid Colorado drivers license and an excellent driving record.
  • Pass criminal background and professional background checks.

Special professional and/or job-related requirements:

  • Basic skills in installation, maintenance and repair in electrical, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry and general building facilities.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • Project a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Communicate with co-workers with professionalism and respect.
  • Exhibit excellent ethical attributes.
  • Demonstrate urgency in implementing maintenance solutions.
  • Read and interpret blue prints, schematics and technical manuals
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Accessibility in the event of emergency maintenance needs.
