Description/Job Summary Resources for Human Development (RHD) www.rhd.org is a comprehensive, nonprofit, human services organization with headquarters in Philadelphia, PA. Founded in 1970, RHD currently supports and oversees more than 160 programs in 14 states, (working quietly behind the scenes of many well-known programs.) From providing residential services for individuals with mental illness, intellectual and developmental disabilities, chemical addiction and those who are homeless, to job training, assisted transportation, and crisis intervention, RHD provides individualized, quality assistance wherever the need exists. RHD is pleased to announce that we are recruiting for our Spring 2017 internships. We are seeking local college undergraduates or recent graduates who are eager to gain knowledge in their chosen field of study and, at the same time, acquire practical, resume-enhancing work experience. This is a unique internship opportunity that will allow for students or recent graduates to learn how the Operations of a national non-profit functions while working on projects that connect to the company’s Strategic Plan and Values. They will learn about the company’s operations by assisting with some company analysis, policy and procedure implementation, and researching how various laws and regulations can impact a company’s operations. This intern will report to Corporate Operations Manager and may collaborate on some other as-needed projects with fellow interns. Main Projects and Duties: Analyzing and summarizing results from an internal customer service survey; this project is related to the company’s second Strategic Objective, Employer of Choice, by fostering a supportive and caring work place Coordinating meetings with Corporate Office departments and summarizing the departments’ 2017 Action Plans and Goals that will be shared with the company’s Management Team and entire Corporation Assisting with compliance of the corporation’s Personnel Policy training by running and analyzing reports, and communicating the results to various leaders in the company’s divisions; this project is related to one of the company’s values, Organizational Integrity Coordinating meetings with divisional leaders to discuss the progress of the training, and any barriers they are facing to staff being compliant Creating a “tool box” of resources for the company’s Fiscal Administrator community to help broaden and strengthen their business administration and office skills; this project is also related to the company’s second Strategic Objective, Employer of Choice, by supporting and developing the Fiscal Administrators skill sets Learning how to edit and create pages on the company’s intranet Building relationships with programs throughout the country, interviewing them and developing creative and interesting pieces to be published on the company’s intranet Collaborating on creative pieces and email blasts with the Communications Intern Research on Independent Contractor laws, Worker Misclassification laws, and other miscellaneous employment laws The Intern will also: Visit at least 1 arts based program Meet with supervisor weekly Learning Objectives: Conducting analyses How communications and relationships impact company operations Collaborative approaches to problem resolution and/or idea implementation Implementation & Training of Corporate Wide Policies and Procedures Learning how to edit web pages on the company’s intranet How laws and regulations from outside agencies can impact a company What it means to be a Decentralized company Corporate Operations, Nonprofit Operations Maintaining professionalism in a relaxed work environment Skills Needed: Good communication skills, good writing skills, good interpersonal skills, good time management Willingness to take initiative Ability to analyze and draw conclusions Should have taken at least 1 Statistics class, and/or an Operations course Experience with Excel , Word, PowerPoint Majors: Open to most business majors, but a plus if the candidate has a major in Management, Entrepreneurship, Communications, or also social services/ non-profit interests To apply, please submit your application, resume and a cover letter answering the following questions: What attracted you to this specific internship at RHD?
