The Institutional Research department provides ongoing analysis of student, employee, and community data to enable Highline College to become more equitable, inclusive, and representative of its community in its learning environments, programs, services, and partnerships. In addition to regular data gathering and review, the Management Analyst generates reports to the college s leadership, the campus community, and the community at large, as well as to specific grant funders and contractors. The analyst works under the general direction of the Director of Institutional Research. The Management Analyst will work with individuals at all levels of the institution as well as with community members.

This position is a Classified full-time position, which is eligible for overtime. Hours of work may include evening, weekend and travel.

Salary Information: The salary range stated above reflects the starting step of Range 52 (Step A) and ending step (Step L) salary for this classified position. Based on salary placement of Step A, it will take 5.5 years to reach Step L on the salary schedule. This does not reflect any contractual changes, legislative mandated salary increases or Cost of Living Increases (COLA s) that may be approved in the future.

Essential Tasks

Under the direction of the Director of Institutional Research this position will:

  • Assist in developing and establishing procedures and policies regarding data collection, documentation, assessment and analysis for new and evolving equity-related programs and initiatives;
  • Work with various grant directors, staff, and community advisory board members to develop and track program outcomes;
  • Conduct research and analyze data to identify program data needs and evaluate outcomes;
  • Track changes to regulations, policies and rules relating to grant programs in order to ensure that compliance is met regarding documentation, assessment and reporting of outcomes;
  • Assist in preparation of complex comprehensive summaries, recommendations and progress reports including preparation of regular performance reports for the AANAPISI grant and other grants as necessary;
  • Extract data from the college data management systems using SQL Server or MS Access for use in analysis;
  • Provide support for focus group and survey administration and analysis of results;
  • Participate on community advisory boards for grant programs;
  • Produce tables, graphs, and narrative analysis that communicate research findings to internal and external audiences;
  • Design and build comprehensive Tableau dashboards.

  • Ability to:
  • Use statistical software, spreadsheets, pivot tables, and database querying software (i.e. Access, Excel, SQL Server or other relational database software);
  • Transform raw data into informative and usable information;
  • Design and produce accessible charts, tables and dashboards using Tableau or other visualization software;
  • Communicate clearly with excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Write and present information in a clear and concise manner;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity working with individuals from diverse social, economic, ethnic, academic and cultural backgrounds;
  • Prioritize projects and tasks independently and meet deadlines;
  • Work collaboratively with the college and larger community.
  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university in Statistics, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Science, Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field; AND
  • Two years of full time (or four years of part time) work experience in a research setting, preferably in educational institutional research.

  • DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master s Degree;
  • Experience in a community college setting;
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft.
