ROLE SUMMARY

Pfizers Digital Solutions and Enablement team are accountable for the creation, configuration, launch, and support of all externally facing digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & device) products, platforms, services, and experiences, servicing all external customer types at Pfizer.

In addition, the DSE team is accountable for our Marketing Technology (Martech) inclusive of Digital Platforms, Digital Channel Enablement, Content Integration, and Marketing/Marketer Tools and for driving Digital Enablement within Pfizer, including Robotic Process Automation, Intelligent Assistants and Workforce Productivity tools.

The Manager, Tech Writer is accountable for communicating information about applications/platforms that are owned by the Digital Platforms, Engineering, Operations & Rapid Response Team

This role sits in the Rapid Response team, who are tasked with resolving highly impactful and complex events. These incidents include but are not limited to security Incident, e.g. emergency security patching of systems, Quarantine, Lockdown, response to DDoS attack or breach and High Visibility Operational Outage, e.g. primary DS&E system is taken offline.

In addition to situation resolution the role is tasked with identifying proactively finding and resolving weaknesses in our infrastructure and platforms, in collaboration with Pfizer Global Infosecurity, DS&E Engineering, and DS&E Operations colleagues.

This role will work with a talented team of functional/technical experts to ensure engaging content is created for the Internal Team, Users, and Stakeholders. The content they manage is instrumental in advancing platform best practice and security and driving forward the program of digital transformation that empowers Pfizers customer-oriented vision.

This position requires an individual with a natural ability to communicate information at both a functional and technical level.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The projects that this role is engaged on are often complex and global in nature. To ensure their success you will be expected to:

  • Acquire a thorough understanding of the applications/platforms that the team is engaged in, and the business environment in which they are to be used.
  • Lead efforts to standardise content presentation across platforms/teams, ensuring appropriate mediums are used for each target audience (e.g. text, diagrams, videos, charts etc.)
  • Work across multiple projects, assessing the technical documentation needs (for Functional/Technical Team and Stakeholders), identifying key documentation deliverables such as how-to manuals, best practices, root cause analysis documents, operating instructions, FAQs etc.
  • Manage content creation, providing expertise and guidance to the team so that they can develop their own content, reviewing/quality assuring content, as well as writing content.
  • Develop a framework to keep content current and easily accessible (so that it remains a valuable asset) by ensuring content is maintained in concert with the maturation of products and never becomes out of date.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor Degree and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience as an information technology professional in roles such as a software developer, technical project manager, systems administrator, database administrator, systems engineer, computer engineer or support specialist, engineering lead, technical team lead.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience writing technical documentation, working with functional/technical teams of contract or colleague resources
  • Experience with Software Development Lifecycle management, including exposure to production system maintenance and operation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • As above and including Bachelor of Science degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Engineering, Technology Management or relevant disciplines.
  • Experience and knowledge of operating in a DevOps environment.

OVERALL:
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to establish relationships with technical and non-technical team members.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, and a facility to break down complex functional/technical concepts into readily understandable logical parts.
  • A proactive self-starter keen to learn new business areas and promote process improvement.
  • Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or regulated environment is a bonus.

NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

Travel will be required as part of this role as it is a virtual position. Expectations around travel will vary but you will need to be capable of travel within the region and to other regions.

Our business is a 7x24x365 endeavor. This role may on occasion require physical or virtual participation on a weekend, holiday, or after normal business hours.
