Wells Fargo Technology sets IT strategy; enhances the design, development, and operations of our systems; optimizes the Wells Fargo infrastructure footprint; provides information security; and enables continuous banking access through in-store, online, ATM, and other channels to Wells Fargos more than 70 million global customers.

The WIMT Architecture practice is accountable for defining a target state architecture, driving the alignment of the IT portfolio to that strategy, and consulting and governing projects to patterns that align to the desired target state. The WIMT Strategy and Planning team is responsible for the managing of the foundations of business execution in a demanding environment with rapidly evolving technology innovation and a highly competitive business market. The program is rooted in an strategy and planning process that defines the architecture target state and maps the transformation needs across the architecture. The practice also builds the roadmap to drive the funding and transformation on a rolling 3 year plan. The Strategy and Planning team is accountable to define directly, or indirectly, the required architecture patterns and then partners with peer architecture teams that provide the solutions and governance services.

Manages a team of Systems Architects and acts in a strategic role in the development and maintenance of target state architectures and associated portfolio plan for an assigned line of business, business capability, or technology domain that addresses business demand with an effective and efficient portfolio of IT Assets and ensure compliance with the Enterprise Architecture Strategy, Patterns and associated technology standards. May also be responsible for primary work on medium to high architectural impact projects, recommending exceptions to the Enterprise Architecture for high level projects, reviewing and approving medium architectural impact designs, communicating the Enterprise Architecture strategy and direction to both management and systems related teams within their line of business or infrastructure subdomain (organizational unit) and directing implementation of the architecture for their organizational unit. Through direct reports, or directly, provides the highest-level technical consulting to internal clients and technical management to ensure conformity with Enterprise Architecture, utilizing expertise across a broad portion of the organizational unit s architecture, or in-depth expertise within a more specific portion of the architecture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Actively engage with other key leaders in enterprise wide architecture, infrastructure, horizontal shared services, and security groups to define and enhance the target state architecture. Partner with key technology leaders to educate on the target state architecture and promote portfolio alignment.
  • Build and maintain Architecture Portfolio Plans in alignment with business capabilities. Requires partnership with both business and IT portfolio owners. Generate prioritized investment ideas based on the portfolio plan.
  • Translate the target state of architecture into a robust state of patterns through collaboration with the broader Enterprise Architecture practice.
  • Complex stakeholder management within the group and across enterprise architecture and technology organizations to influence, drive and promote architecture alignment and support of the business vision, including risk, security and resiliency.
  • Recruit, mentor and develop talent. Build and manage a highly effective architecture planning function.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years design and planning experience in systems, applications or IT Architecture

  • Demonstrated technical expertise and comprehensive knowledge of an entire line of business or infrastructure sub-domain
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
  • Knowledge and understanding of wealth and investment management

  • Knowledge and understanding of application development, infrastructure, and architecture environments
  • Knowledge and understanding of applications: architecture, design, business functions, interfaces, dependencies, processing windows, volumes
  • Knowledge and understanding of Information Technology architecture design concepts, strategies, and standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology architecture: applications systems design and integration
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology architecture: development consultation including optimal design and configurations
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology architecture: solutions for web applications and web services
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology architecture: technical application of concepts, practices and procedures in the architecture of a single application or system component
  • Strong design skills within a software architecture design tool
  • Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence change
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with LOB stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
  • Ability to influence management on technical or business solutions
  • Ability to manage initiatives related to the following: architecture roadmap that aligns with business strategy and the broader architecture community; hardware and capacity planning, consolidation and rationalization; related emerging technology assessment and incubation
  • Strong presentation skills

Job Expectations

  • Ability to travel up to 35% of the time
