Marketing and Development Associate

Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture is looking for a Marketing and Development Associate to assist in implementing an integrated marketing strategy to heighten FMCACs institutional profile and promote its mission as an arts, cultural and community anchor in San Francisco. The position blends a variety of different communications disciplinesonline media, social networking, public relations, advertising, event planning, content development, and community outreachto raise awareness of FMCAC and its programs and tenants, generate media interest, attract supporters, and connect with the community.

The Marketing and Development Associate assists in implementing the organizations day-to-day communications. The successful candidate will have outstanding written and verbal communications skills, be proficient in dealing with the public, solve problems creatively, be deadline-driven, and possess a general knowledge of the local arts and cultural community.

The Marketing and Development Associate also assists in managing and implementing the organizations philanthropy plan. The position will assist in soliciting grants and cultivating donors to support the organizations mission. The successful candidate will work well with potential donors and members of the Board. This position reports to the Director of External Affairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the FMCAC website, including writing and editing content, and curating images.
  • Manage organizational presence on a variety of social media platforms and work to build communities of interest. Work cooperatively with other departments and externally to generate a continuous stream of lively, relevant content.
  • Draft media advisories and news releases.
  • Write, edit, and review copy and design in the production of all publications and print media, including newsletters, brochures, fliers, philanthropy proposals, and annual reports.
  • Collaborate with Resident Organizations and events to publicize their programs and activities.
  • Assist in implementing the organizations philanthropy plan.
  • Research and cultivate individual, foundation, and business funders to identify likely candidates for contributions.
  • Maintain the fundraising database ensuring the accuracy of data and creating funding reports.

Job Qualifications

Three years or more of marketing, communications and/or fund development experience is essential. Prior experience with arts/cultural organizations, preferred. Ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communications skills, have knowledge of social media and online marketing, and feel comfortable working with local media and community stakeholders. Ability to work well with potential donors and members of the Board. Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience required.

This is a full-time, non-exempt position.
