Curry Up Now started in 2009 with a single food truck roaming the streets of Burlingame. With great success and an amazing team behind us, weve since expanded to three food trucks, six brick & mortar restaurants and two craft cocktail bars and have started franchising across the US.

Even though we have great plans to continually expand in the future, were still a small company and will always be a small company at heart. This means our employees aren t a faceless number to us. JOB TITLE: Marketing Coordinator
REPORTS TO: Director of Marketing & Branding
DIRECT REPORTS: None, at this time
QUICK SUMMARY: The Marketing Coordinator will work with the Director of Marketing & Branding to help manage all aspects of marketing and branding for Curry Up Now and Mortar & Pestle Bar brands. The Coordinator will have a unique skill set in Marketing & Branding in the Food and Beverage Industry and will be instrumental in our continued growth, working with our Corporate Team, Restaurant Managers, and Franchisees on all Marketing & Branding requirements.


  • Annual Salary commensurate with experience and aligned with the company compensation metrics established

  • Advanced Degree in Marketing/Branding/Communications preferred
  • 2-3 years of relevant work experience in Marketing and Branding within the Food and Beverage Arena. Experience with Franchising and marketing requirements related to the franchising process
  • Demonstrated success in creative planning
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, HTML Knowledge, Squarespace, Google Drive, Email communications, Microsoft Suite
  • Must live in the Bay Area and be willing to and able to commute daily to our headquarters in South San Francisco.
  • Must be willing and able to commute to our restaurants or special events needed
  • General knowledge of OSHA and EEOC regulations, restaurant/food safety procedures, federal and state employment laws, on-boarding and employee exit requirements as it relates to the financial impact of the company in California and Franchisee States
  • Ability to successfully perform all job duties of all marketing and branding functions
  • Ability to travel up to 30% of the time when necessary
  • Willingness to take on projects with a proactive attitude
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language
  • Possesses reasonable math and accounting skill (add, subtract, multiply, divide)

  • Proven ability to solve problems and handle high stress situations in times of expansive growth with franchise stores
  • Ability to interpret financial statements and understand contributing factors as it relates to marketing and branding

  • Position may be required to meet or pass through restaurant operations, but otherwise is a stationary kind of role.

  • This person will work from our offices for the majority of the work performed. Meetings or other requirements within the restaurants may be required, however. Travel to Corporate Owned Restaurants and Franchise Restaurants across the United States may occur. The environment within the restaurant may be subject to extreme heat and wet, slippery floors, particularly in the food production area. Care must be exercised to wear appropriate attire such as skid resistant shoes to prevent slips.

    Position Summary
    Responsible for coordinating the performance and control of the Marketing and Branding requirements for Curry Up Now. The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for the impeccable standards of excellence as it relates to marketing and branding for the business. This mid-level Coordinator role provides leadership, guidance, and support to the restaurant teams with the overall goal of ensuring the effective branding and success of the restaurants as it relates to brand awareness and marketing initiatives. The Marketing Coordinator consistently demonstrates, follows, as well as helps to enforce, company policies, practices, and procedures.

    Sales and Profits
  • Helps to develop and implement creative strategies for restaurants to ensure optimal sales and earnings, while having real-time knowledge of the branding situations in each property.
  • Assists in the annual preparation of sales projections, forecasts, expense budgets, and capital expenditure budgets based on marketing and branding initiatives and strategies developed.
  • Helps to meet or exceed budgeted sales through effective marketing strategies
  • Maximizes profits by controlling expenses within established budget guidelines
  • Identifies, evaluates and responds appropriately to branding problems
  • Assists restaurant leaders in identifying sales growth opportunities in restaurant merchandising and local restaurant marketing ideas

  • Operations and Quality Standards
  • Ensure all restaurants meet or exceed Company Operations and Quality Standards in branding and marketing initiatives
  • Curate and implement in-store marketing materials
  • Drive digital marketing initiatives in operations including paid media, online order setup
  • Collaborate with the Corporate Staff, General Managers, Franchisees and other pertinent team members for operational controls of the restaurant branding that enhance brand accuracy and awareness
  • Performs visitations at each restaurant on a frequent basis to ensure management teams understand strengths and developmental opportunities as they relate to marketing and branding standards. Provides a summary of visitations to company leaders at weekly Corporate Meetings
  • Support and manage grand opening events

  • Hospitality, Culture, and Community Involvement
  • Responds immediately to all customer/vendor issues to ensure satisfaction has been achieved and relationships are maintained
  • Setup and coordinate in-store charitable fundraisers
  • Checks with Director of Marketing and Branding often to monitor balances and credits with vendors and suppliers
  • Monitors progress of restaurant managers ability to show positive change among their team
  • Responsible for providing direction to all team members with regards to achieving the standard that is established in the company values
  • Understands and is capable of telling the company story how it was started, what it means and how it relates to communities in which our restaurants are located
  • Identifies opportunities for partnerships with local organizations
  • Promotes corporate citizenship and social responsibility

  • Recruiting and Retention
  • Collaborates with HR to ensure appropriate understanding of the impact recruiting and retention has on the company.

  • Training
  • Works with the Corporate Leaders to schedule and conduct training for managers on any new products, platforms, marketing/branding initiatives
  • Ensures that all leadership is aware and trained in changes in company policy or procedures as it relates to marketing and branding
  • Aids Managers in identifying potential problems and develops solutions for brand awareness

  • People Development
  • Develops managerial and leadership abilities of restaurant management staff through impeccable marketing and branding initiatives
  • Reinforces the companys Core Values consistently
  • Conducts meetings with restaurant management team as necessary regarding branding
  • Provides coaching and feedback on an on-going basis
  • Demonstrates positive workplace practices according to company values

  • Employee Relations
  • Accurately and consistently documents store employee performance appropriately
  • Responsible for following the approved termination process as outlined in the company Employee Handbook
  • Uses consistent practices in managing performance problems

  • Policies and Procedures
  • Ensures compliance on procedure outlined in all company reference manuals
  • Ensures compliance on budgets, cash control, and safety and security policy
  • Monitors Internal Brand Audit Controls within each restaurant on a frequent basis
  • Ensures any accidents and incidents are reported to HR in a timely manner
  • Ensures compliance with all HR/Financial Audits
  • Ensures that proper I-9 identification and required information is in compliance during on-boarding for all future Marketing/Branding employees

  • Administration
  • Track and analyze online review platforms
  • Participate in weekly management meetings to report on weekly marketing and branding
  • Manage Social Media content with PR Team
  • Assist with photo shoots and press inquiries
  • Ensure 3rd party vendors are accurate in menu edits and updates
  • Update company website and truck schedule as necessary
  • Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned
  • Maintain relationships with vendors, insurance, IT vendors and other third-party providers to ensure for smooth marketing and branding management
  • Provides and maintains monthly calendars of events, meetings, and store requirements
  • Checks e-mail and Glip on a frequent basis and responds accordingly
