In this key role you will market a portfolio of conferences from idea creation to execution. You will provide overall marketing expertise for all conference marketing plans with responsibility for campaign strategy, implementation, ROI and all conference analytics. Creates and implements when appropriate, consults with marketing peers and other functional teams to create a plan that includes strategy, database targeting plans, web marketing and analytics, SEO/SEM, email creative, search, social media and direct mail. As appropriate will negotiate media barters and forge relationships with trade associations

In this role you will:

  • Optimize the effectiveness of all marketing efforts across all conferences to meet or exceed attendance goals
  • Develop, implement and coordinate effective web, email, search, social, video, mail and telemarketing campaigns for assigned conferences
  • Identify unique selling proposition and continually optimizes and measures communication value to customers within the context of various media channels.
  • Negotiate and execute contract deals with associations and publications.
  • Create all marketing content and continually measures effectiveness for assigned conferences.
  • Work with proprietary database to segment audience, analyze customer behavior and improve the quality of the database
  • Work closely with web product team making sure the web site and marketing efforts are coordinated and tracked.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Travel requirements ~10%

What you ll need to succeed:

  • Four-year degree in marketing, management, digital arts or similar major, or equivalent in experience.
  • Ability to effectively evaluate marketing plans and motivate cross-functional team members when needed.
  • Analytical, proactive, ability to work in a team matrix and juggle complex and competing priorities while meeting established deadlines.
  • Understanding of issues relevant to the industry s market with the ability to anticipate and respond to potential opportunities and threats for the business relevant to the conditions of the market and industry.
  • Solid social media, SEO/SEM, email and database marketing skills are a must.
  • Strong negotiations, communication and people skills.
  • Must have understanding of direct marketing strategies, measurement and tracking programs including Omniture and Google AdWords (or like programs) and working knowledge of MS Office suite as well as other digital creative development tools.
  • Salesforce (or like program) experience a plus
  • Shares information, cooperates with others, and is comfortable participating as a part of a team.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and solve problems quickly, decisively, and independently.
  • Business-to-business experience in marketing or promoting conferences is preferred; knowledge of the Bio/Pharmaceutical industry is helpful.
