Media/PR Writer

Wakefield Research – Arlington, VA

Wakefield Research is seeking writers with news, PR and media relations experience to join our Public Relations Polling Divisions Editorial team.

Our Media/PR Writers use a keen eye and understanding of the news cycle, and what makes news across various industry verticals and topics, from technology to financial to consumer products. They serve as counselors to our survey research team, finding holes in media coverage and identifying topics that would be necessary or interesting to reporters to fill those gaps or augment existing stories.

More specifically, our writers consume news of a variety of topic areas and mediums. They understand the intricacies of reporting on light subject matter compared to dense subjects, and writing for trade publications compared to mainstream consumer outlets, and can think creatively but provide rationale for their ideas. They thrive in an environment that at times, calls for autonomous work, and at other times, has the collaborative spirit of a newsroom.

If you enjoy and excel in these areas, either because of experience as a journalist or experience as a public relations practitioner who has a history of success creating and pitching ideas to media, wed love for you to join our team. More information about desired skills for this position, what we do here at Wakefield Research and application instructions are below.

Desired Skills:

  • Minimum 5 years of professional, post-collegiate work experience in journalism and/or public relations. Experience in media relations and/or public relations agency preferred.
