Office Coordinator I

The Pediatric Public Health Initiative, under the direction of Dr. Mona Hanna-Attisha, seeks an Office Coordinator for its CDC-funded grant to establish a Flint Registry. The Flint Registrys goal is to connect people who were impacted by the Flint Water Crisis to resources and programs that serve to minimize the effects of lead on their health while promoting wellness and recovery.

The candidate will provide general clerical support for the Flint Registry. The position will interact with stakeholders through phone, email, and in person, including university faculty, staff, and the public. The Office Coordinator schedules and coordinate logistics for meetings, trainings, and special events; maintains calendars and monitors day-to-day email and written correspondence; gathers data and information from a variety of sources and compiles, analyzes, and prepares data for generating reports; maintains office files; coordinates meeting agendas and prepares meeting minutes; establishes, monitors, maintains and oversees files and records on internal and external fund accounts, operations and personnel; composes correspondence, reports, and other documents; coordinates projects as assigned by the Registry Director; organizes and assist with regular office procedures as required. This position is located in Flint, MI. An occasional evening or weekend may be required.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical school or a related field; six months to one year of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in word processing, spreadsheet use, presentation software and/or desktop publishing, coordinating office procedures; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Associate s degree in a business or communications-related field; detail-oriented and organized; ability to work independently; strong oral and written communications skills; ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.
