Part Time Sales Associate

Job Summary

A sales associate is required to sell merchandise and solicit charge accounts (where applicable). This nonexempt position also helps maintain the brand standards and overall appearance of the store. Responsible for providing excellent customer service including stock and replenishment.

Job Duties and Functions

Goals Achievement:

Achieve or exceed all established goals. These include: sales, hourly productivity, average dollar sale (ADS), units per transaction (UPT), conversion (if applicable), charge accounts, Perks (if applicable) and contests, and any other brand specific KPIs.

Actively participate in all contests, promotions and sales incentive programs.

Responsible for contributing to efforts in the stores achievement of the shrink target.

Customer Service:

Have a complete working knowledge and use of selling skills and customer service standards as set forth in Company training programs.

Develop and build a clientele base through continued use of Client Book, note cards to customers and name/address/email capture through the Customer Profile System (CPS).

Develop and maintain relationships with customers through a friendly attitude and excellent customer service.

Answer the telephone in a friendly and professional manner.

Service customers in the fitting rooms.

Meet Company standards for appearance, performance, knowledge and personal grooming.

Maintain an awareness of all sales promotions.

Effectively handle multiple customers and projects.

Housekeeping:

Maintain general housekeeping standards.

Ensure that cash wrap area remains neat and organized.

Clean and organize stockroom, receiving area and restrooms.

Loss Prevention:

Follow all security policies and procedures, including zone defense. Recognize and react to potential loss prevention issues.

Watch for potential shortages through prompt servicing of customers, notifying management of: external theft (shoplifting), internal theft, missing tickets or EAS tags.

Ensure the securing of Company funds as outlined in the Register, Operations and Loss Prevention Manuals.

Follow all fitting room procedures as outlined in the company training programs including monitoring the number of garments each customer takes into and out of the fitting room and cleaning fitting room after each customer.

Help ensure safety of all associates by identifying dangerous situations and reporting them to store management, and report all safety incidents to management immediately

Properly process register functions.

Product Knowledge:

Keep current on featured merchandise, fashion trends, fabric content and care of merchandise.

Maintain a consistent awareness of the stores merchandise mix and placement on the selling floor.

Store Operations:

Adhere to all Company policies as stated in the Associate Handbook, Register, Loss Prevention and Operations Manuals, as well as other materials provided by Corporate.

Operate the register correctly and efficiently.

Assist store management as needed to maintain the store.

Assist store management in handling of merchandise receipts and transfers, including checking in, hanging, steaming, EAS placement, floor presentation, markdowns, etc.

Follow visual merchandising standards, including keeping fixtures straightened and filled, colorizing displays, etc., as directed by the Store Sales Manager/ Assistant Sales Manager/ FT & PT Sales Leaders.

Assist Store Sales Manager/Assistant Sales Manager/ FT & PT Sales Leaders to take markdowns in a correct and timely manner.

Work Habits:

Demonstrate professional relationships with all associates. Support Company goals and display a positive attitude with all associates and customers.

Be willing to assist others as requested and adapt to new situations and procedures.

Identify problems/opportunities and discuss with supervisor using open door policy.

Be accurate and legible when processing paperwork and assignments.

Complete work within deadlines and ask for additional assignments.

Perform with a minimum of supervision.

Report to work on time and remain at work as scheduled. Keep requests for schedule changes to a minimum.

Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

At least 18 years of age (applicable divisions).

Good communication skills, operates with integrity and trust.

Accuracy in all assigned paperwork and/or register functions.

Must present a professional appearance.

Goal oriented, results driven.

Takes initiative and is customer focused.

Able to work various shifts, hours, days and holidays to meet store staffing needs.

Physical Requirements

Ability to bend, squat, stand, and reach for up to 4 hours or longer as required.

Ability to use common tools.

Able to operate computerized register system.

Able to lift as much as 50 pounds.

Able to climb an 8-foot ladder.
