Payroll Specialist

Hotel Management and Consulting, Inc – Overland Park, KS

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for accurate processing of multi-state payroll processes bi-weekly along with support for properties on all new hires and event changes. This position involves using problem solving skills, ability to multi-task and maintain focus to meet deadlines. The Payroll Specialist will be a member of the HR department.

***Applicant must have payroll processing experience for 100+ associates.

Essential Functions:

  • Review time sheets and address discrepancies
  • Prepare payroll reports
  • Manage deduction processes
  • Order, send and activate Skylight cards as required
  • Code vendor invoices
  • Prepare and process information for Immediate pay states
  • Process employment verifications and garnishments
  • Maintain personnel files
  • Data Entry
  • Assist with pre-employment requirements for all properties
  • Manage the administrative processes associated with terminated employees
  • Assist with other Human Resources functions as needed


  • High School degree and at least 2 years of work-related payroll processing experience
  • Must be detail-oriented and a self-starter with the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Knowledge of federal and multi state regulations (CO, FL, IA, IN, KS, LA, MO, NC, NE, NJ, NM, SC, TN, TX and WA)
  • Decision-making, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
  • Ability to pick up on computer programs and adapt to technology changes
  • High degree of professionalism
  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of management
  • Prefer FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)

Salary: $17.00 to $19.00 /hour
