Careers Start Here.ResponsibilitiesIntake Coordinators are located at the Intake Department of the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance (SCCA) and provide a high level of triage prior to patient arrival into the Stem Cell Transplant outpatient clinic. This team of clinicians works closely with the attending physicians and prinicipal investigators to determine a patient s clinical eligibility for these therapies.
Complex tasks performed by the coordinators may include review of eligibility for protocols, test/result coordination with referring MD sites and scheduling of radiation therapy and cellular therapy processes prior to arrival. Essentially, the Intake team of clinicians set incoming patients up for successful entry to the transplant clinic in order that when they arrive, patients can quicky be evaluated further by the outpatient teams prior to the start of therapy. This coordinator may also participate in other activities around the center, which may include duties such as attending workup rounds and attending meetings to facilitate coordinating issues in the Intake office. This clinical position will coordinate primarily for a pediatric population, as well as provide some oversight and coverage for adult transplant patients.

  • Provide clinical support to the transplant programs in the coordination of scheduling patients, (primarily including a pediatric population).
  • Includes working with SCCA/FHCRC and referring physicians to plan treatment based on clinical assessments.
  • Serve as a resource to internal and referring physicians for information on availability of protocols for a variety of clinical scenarios.
  • Working with patients and families to provide education and instructions.
  • Interfacing with the SCCA Patient Finance Services office and insurance company representatives to obtain financial coverage for treatment.
  • Coordinating with various departments within the center to schedule for transplant including radiation oncology, cellular therapy, apheresis, research RN s, the outpatient clinic and others.
  • The majority of this activity occurs via e-mail and telephone, thus excellent written and spoken communication skills are imperative.Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant training program or appropriate Nurse Practioner program and be able to practice in the state of Washington (licensed).
  • Have a National Certification as appropriate for profession.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Basic computer skills are essential.
  • Must be able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Must enjoy long-term relationships with patients undergoing intense therapy.
  • Oncology and BMT experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in pediatrics preferred but not required.
