About Wells Fargo Technology
Wells Fargo Technology (WFT) sets IT strategy; enhances the design, development, and operations of our systems; optimizes the Wells Fargo infrastructure footprint; provides information security; and enables continuous banking access through in-store, online, ATM, and other channels to Wells Fargos more than 70 million global customers.

Enterprise Functions Technology (EFT) provides development and support for the many internal systems used across the enterprise. The EFT Architecture & Strategy Group provides architecture services. We work to influence the technology direction and standards of Wells Fargo technology and ensure EFT solutions are in alignment the overall goals and objectives of WFT and our partners.
The architect position will have the responsibility of development of the current architecture practice and build governance framework, templates, and processes.
The desired candidate will be a self-starter who will work independently, as well as report and demonstrate progress on regular intervals.
They will deliver complete and accurate documentation of the systems researched and provide actionable recommendations.
Additionally, they will have the technical ability and prowess to recognize areas where immediate corrective action should be taken and have the ability to develop solutions throughout the review process.
They will think outside the immediate paradigm while maintaining enterprise standards and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
  • Manage all architecture practice and governance activities - Pipeline, WATT, and other intake items.
  • Develop conceptual/high level business capabilities model (current, target state, roadmap) for living target architecture (LTA) framework
  • Manage all architecture practice activities such as pipeline work assignments, and metrics reporting
  • Collaborate with other architects, technology leaders, and business leaders in the enterprise for architecture practice evangelization.
  • Develop and publish architecture process and procedures using SharePoint or other tools.
  • Participate in audit activities related EFT architecture practice.
  • Facilitate architecture reviews for LTAs, Policy Exceptions, Architecture Design Artifacts (CAD and SAS).


The preferred work locations are Charlotte, NC but other locations such as Minneapolis, MN and Chandler, AZ may also be considered. Preference will be given to those candidates that either currently live in or are willing to relocate to Charlotte, NC with limited to no relocation assistance.


Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of information technology systems design and planning experience; in systems, applications, or architecture
  • 1+ year of SharePoint experience
  • 1 + year of Microsoft Visio experience
  • 10+ years of experience conducting project meetings, presentations and status reporting
  • 8 + years of experience designing software solutions using software architecture design principles

  • Extensive technical skills and comprehensive knowledge and understanding of an entire line of business or infrastructure sub-domain
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
  • A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
  • Ability to assess issues, make quick decisions, implement solutions, and influence change
  • Ability to effectively partner and influence at the executive level
  • Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management
  • Ability to influence and build relationships with LOB stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
  • Knowledge and understanding of technology governance
  • Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, LiveMeeting and SharePoint) skills

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 7+ years industry experience in Business and Technology Capability View
  • 6+ years as senior architect or enterprise applications
  • 6+ years of experience in leading medium & large scale program solution architecture.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with Architecture Practice
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with managing Project / Portfolio, and assignments.
  • Experience influencing management on technical or business solutions
  • Experience with a wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures to multiple applications or a component family
  • Have a solid track record of building architecture practice from scratch.
  • Deep understanding of architecture governance framework such as TOGAF
  • Familiarity with architecture modeling tool - BC Alfabet, Mega, Rational/Sparks
  • Outstanding Organization skills and able to manage multiple priorities at once.
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent work experience
