Process and Development Engineer

Requirements Job Summary:
SUMMARY: Located in Gainesville, FL, this person will lead process development activities and implement capital and large expense projects individually and as part of a project team. Projects will typically be focused on new products and chemical processes or the infrastructure to support those areas.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1.Lead process development activities to move new products and processes from concept to reliable, cost effective production processes.
a.Provide engineering guidance during product development and R&D screening.
b.Provide guidance to R&D including assistance in the development of experimental plans for generation of data required for scaleup and process design.
c.Lead efforts during lab scale process development and piloting including design and construction of equipment.
d.Lead development PFD and generation of heat and material balance.
2.Implement capital and expense projects including:
a.Translation of customers requirements into a defined project scope.
b.Development of project deliverables including PFD and P&ID development, equipment specifications, cost estimate, specifications.
c.Development of internal consensus and support for projects leading to procurement of funding.
d.Evaluate safety issues in the design and implementation of projects including participation in Process Hazard Analysis evaluations.
e.Procurement of parts and services including leading the bidding process, coordination engineering and construction contractors and project cost control.
f.Support operations during start up and directly participate in startup activities.
3.Actively participate in the sites safety process by adhering to all plant safety policies and regulatory requirements and through active participation in the sites associate led safety program.
4.Actively support the sites quality program by understanding and complying with Milliken Quality Policy, Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOPs), relevant ISO 9000 standards and Company Policies as applicable.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
1.BS in Chemical Engineering.
2.Minimum of 5 years experience in Project Engineering at a plant level.
3.Minimum of 5 years experience in process development and pilot of chemical processes.
4.Familiarity with legal requirements of the process industry (TSCA, Environmental, PSM, OSHA, etc.).
5.High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
6.Proficiency with specialized engineering software including AutoCAD, ASPEN (or ChemCAD), etc.
Preferred:
1.Secondary degree (minor of second BS) or advanced degree (MS, PhD) in chemical engineering, related engineering, or related scientific field (chemistry, physics, etc.)
2.Experience in plant operations, process engineering, R&D, process development and pilot plant operations.
3.Experience with silane, silicone and semiconductor chemical precursor chemistries and industrial requirements.
4.Familiar with quality control, quality assurance, analytical techniques (lab and online), and statistical process control.
5.Experience with instrumentation and controls including DCS systems.

Other
1.Travel (mostly domestic though some international including Asia) potentially 10-20% of the time,
2.Located in Gainesville, FL or Spartanburg, SC. R&D team in both locations. Manufacturing in Gainesville, Fl.
