Program Coordinator

The Program and Strategy Team of ASNI will work with ACLU affiliates to strategically align our chief program drivers advocacy, communications, and legal to bring the full power of ACLU affiliates to reach their goals, increase connectivity between national and affiliate staff, better drive nationwide strategies, and leverage the strengths of the whole nationwide enterprise. This team will work with other ASNI teams, national office partners, and affiliate leadership to build programs and attend to the institutional and cultural work that is needed to operate successfully.

The Program Coordinator will help coordinate the Program and Strategy Teams engagement with affiliates and national staff. The position will also help develop and maintain resources to assist affiliates in their program development. The role reports to the Director of Program and Strategy and works as part of an interdisciplinary team.


  • Act as project manager for planning the scheduling, preparation timeline, execution, and follow-up on a series of monthly and quarterly check-in calls, workshops, in person convening, site visits, and internal communications for the team; assist with logistics for meetings
  • Assist Events Manager with planning off-site meetings
  • Assist with creating a curriculum that centers best practices for building and executing successful affiliate programs
  • Research, contribute to, produce, and maintain a bank of resources that support program development
  • Assist with the introduction of new technologies to further affiliate programs
  • Contribute to the development of evaluative tools and fair measures of capacity and success of affiliate programs
  • Help coordinate grants from the national office to affiliates and new programmatic initiatives

  • Be an ambassador for the Department with national staff to build a greater understanding of the role of the department and importance of affiliate work
  • Support innovative practices that will build a talent pipeline in the ACLU
  • With an open mind and collaborative spirit, provide support as needed to ASNI department staff;
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with affiliate staff and national colleagues to advance affiliate organizational effectiveness
  • Assist with the ensuring team to team connectivity within ASNI and with other national departments and help problem solve if affiliate needs are not sufficiently prioritized
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Excellent project management skills executed in fast paced and intense work environments
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to take initiative, think creatively, problem solve, work well under pressure, and manage multiple priorities and projects effectively under tight deadlines
  • Must be able to work both independently as well as within a team.
  • Hungry to learn, curious to ask questions, and a desire to engage in exploration individually as well as being part of a team
  • Frequent travel is required
  • Dedication to the ACLUs mission
