Position Description

The Entry Level Programmer is primarily responsible for application, web and utility development using Java, JavaScript or other language(s) as defined by user requirements and design documents.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Write code using Java, JavaScript as defined by user requirements and design documents.

  • Write Sql scripts and stored procedures using MySQL, PostgreSQL.

  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment.

  • Must be flexible and adaptable.

  • Assist with other areas of the Application Development Life Cycle as needed. Ability to successfully write high quality software.

  • Develop and implement Unit Testing processes and procedures.
  • ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with other areas of the Application Development Life Cycle as needed.

  • Maintains expertise in assigned areas of responsibility.

  • Perform other duties as needed.

  • Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, or a Bachelors in Computer Information Systems is required and must have been obtained within 24 months of the application date for this entry level position.

  • Previous experience in a related field such as intern/extern-ships or working on project teams is highly preferred.

  • Knowledge and experience with a mainstream object oriented programming language, such as Java or C#.

  • Knowledge and experience with a mainstream RDMS, such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL

  • Experience with an Application Development Life Cycle methodology.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects concurrently.

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.

  • Some relevant experience preferred with the following technologies: ESRI JavaScript API. Web technologies, including HTML5, JavaScript, and CSS. Version Control using Git.

  • Must successfully pass a background and credit check to access sensitive information and automated systems.

  • Due to government contracts requirements this employee must be a U.S. citizen by birth or naturalization, or a green card lawful U.S. permanent resident, or a political asylum in the U.S. Individual must meet the definition of a U.S. person upon hire due to the extent of facility and file access, security requirements, and the risk assessment of this position.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    This position is located in an air-conditioned, environmentally controlled atmosphere, and occasionally attend meetings in technology company environments.

    Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
