Project Manager - USA

Be MHI Vestas project management expert in the USAre you an experienced project manager ready to manage and lead MHI Vestas project organisation in the US? Do you have in-depth knowledge of political and regulative aspects within the offshore wind industry in the US? You will be our first US-based Project Manager and report to the Senior Project Manager based in Europe with whom daily communication and planning of activities will take place. Line management will be to the European Project Director responsible for the project contract execution in the US. Tasks & responsibilities: You willbe the local footprint in Boston, MA, for the Vineyard Wind project and the extended competence- and knowledge centre for the Project Management team at HQ in Aarhus, DK. As the first US-based Project Manager, you will be involved in various networks, associations and stakeholder groups. You are expected to establish and drive localisation for MHI Vestas from a project management point of view. In conjunction with the Project Director, you will ensure that the project is delivered on time, within budget and scope following the required safety and quality standards. You will also ensure that the project is staffed and proactively manage relationships with the customer, sub-contractors, supplier, the project team and other internal stakeholders. You will also be responsible for:
  • Manage and lead the project organisation in the US
  • Be involved in and control the day-to-day interface to Labour Union-related matters
  • Engage the project team in gaining knowledge and understanding of the specifics with building large-scale offshore projects in the US
  • Day-to-day communication and alignment with the customers US-based staff
  • Implement and adhere to the MHI Vestas management systems
  • Together with the Senior Project manager, manage the work of sub-contractors allocating and utilising resources in an efficient manner and maintaining a cooperative and successful team
  • Report and escalate via the Senior Project Manager to Project Director or Steering Group as needed
  • Perform risk management to minimise project risks
Skills & experience: Our new colleaguehas strong stakeholder management skills and 3-5 years of experience from a similar industry and preferably large-scale projects. You have knowledge of the state and federal laws, rules and regulations concerning offshore wind, as well as knowledge of the cooperation and dynamics dealing with the US State Local Labour Union representatives. As a person, you are a self-starter ready to take on responsibility. You thrive in a role where you will take the lead and be Project Managements key point of contact in the US. You are extrovert and reliable and have great interpersonal and communication skills. We expect that you:
  • Have knowledge of and experience with the political aspects within offshore wind in the US
  • Are a diplomatic team player
  • Hold a relevant education (e.g. engineering or contractual background, project management or similar)
  • Pay attention to details
  • Have risk management competencies and commercial acumen
  • Have contractual and technical understanding
  • Have a strong mindset concerning Health, Safety and Environment in all aspects of a project
