Position Details

ConMet currently has excellent temp-to-hire opportunities for for a Quality Tech to join our Vancouver Machining plant. The Quality Technician at ConMet is responsible for receiving first piece, in-process and final inspections as related to the manufacture of machined parts that are supplied globally and the production plans necessary to support them. The position is based in Vancouver, Washington and works directly with the Quality Manager, as well as our Production, Engineering and Purchasing departments, to develop workable plans that maximize customer service levels and minimize total cost of quality. This posting is for our 2nd (typically 3:30pm to 11pm).

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Perform and/or oversee incoming, first article, in-process and final inspections including dock audits using CMM and other metrology tools
  • Assist in the creation of PPAP, APQP and work instructions for new and existing products
  • Coordinate gage calibration, in-house and outsourcing suppliers
  • Assist in development of functional gages
  • Perform Gage R&R (Repeatability and Reproducibility) on annual/ Semi-annual basis
  • Monitor ongoing statistical data from all production cells to ensure consistent production process controls
  • Perform internal audits to comply to TS16949 standards
  • Assist in the creation of PPAP, APQP and Work Instructions for new and existing products
  • Assist with internal problem solving efforts
  • Abide by all ConMet policies and work instructions
  • Be a team player and willing to assist in all operations of manufacturing product at ConMet

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Two or more years of experience as a Quality Technician (or a closely-related Quality role) in manufacturing facility required
  • Proficient in reading and understanding blueprints and GD&T required
  • Understanding of the principles of metrology and use of measuring equipment required
  • Knowledge and use of Zeiss CMM highly preferred
  • Technical education preferred but not required

  • Able to work scheduled overtime
  • Able to work flexible hours on short notice
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office
  • Sense of urgency and attention to detail
  • Must have good problem solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities
