RPG ILE Developer

Job Description:

Prefer someone with about 10+ years of modern RPG Free experience who be a right-hand person to the Applications Manager as well as help mentor Jr. Programmer learning IBM i and RPG Free. The ideal person who has shown the initiative to learn modern RPG Free, SQL, Web Services, HTML, take classes online, or in-person to stay leading edge.

Candidate Capabilities:

• Modern RPG Development tools.
• A track record of continual learning of modern RPG. (on-line classes; self-study; attend training; conferences or COMMON)
• SQL, (ad-hoc RUNSQL, ACS), RPG embedded SQL & cursor processing, DDL (tables, views, indexes), some SQL functions, and stored procedures.
• RDi & ACS
• Eager to contribute ideas, improve applications
• Reliable documentation and comments in your code
• ILE RPG and RPG Free Form, no fixed format
• Subfile programming
• Procedures, prototype copybooks, service programs, binder source, binding directories
• CLLE

Qualifications

• Prefer a degree in Software Engineering or Application Development or related Computer Science program or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years experience with RPG IV / ILE RPG. C++ &/or VB/.Net in a business environment a plus.
• Knowledge of SQL, free-format RPG, ILE concepts, service programs, procedures, binder source, SQL functions, and procedures preferred.
• Web Services a Plus
• RPG Toolbox a Plus
• Valence Portal a Plus
• Nitro App Builder
• 5250 Terminal emulators a plus
• Independently motivated, detail-oriented, and able to maintain focus on long term projects.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences of various levels within the Company.
• Proven problem solving and time management skills.
• Results-oriented; demonstrated sense of urgency and commitment to achieve efficient and accurate results.
